Process after NOA2 but before interview

I just had my I-129 approved by USCIS.  Can anyone that has been through this before tell me what happens next?

1. What am I waiting for to schedule the interview?

2. Is there anything I can be preparing in the meantime from when USCIS is handing the case over to the NVC?

3. Does my interview get scheduled by someone else or do I schedule it and pick the date?

Thanks for any replies!

Once your case gets transferred to the NVC, you will get a notice telling you that they got your file and that they will send to the US embassy in your country. The embassy will then notify you and let you know what documents you will need to gather. You will also need to get a physical exam performed by a civil surgeon. You will also need to fill out your DS-160 and then schedule your interview at the embassy.

This will all happen once the US embassy gets your file in several weeks. For now all you can do is pretty much wait.

Hello,

You can actually contact NVC rather than waiting for the notice. We began calling about 2 weeks after our NOA2 and we received our case number on the 3rd week! Once you have the case number you can fill in your DS160, we were able to schedule our medical as well with the case number but I'm going through the UK so don't know what the rules will be for yours! Here is your countries local forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/136-vietnam/ you should find a lot of the answers to your questions in there!

The number for NVC is  603 334-0700. The petitioner or beneficiary can call, you need both your dates of birth and also your USCIS number. Once you've got that you can track your case on this website https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ (select immigrant visa) and enter your case number from NVC and it will show you when your case is , in transit (on the way to your local embassy) & ready (when they have received it).

Hope this helps and good luck :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Our NVC case number was just assigned today.  Can we book an appointment for a interview now?

I would wait a couple of weeks before doing so. With the HCM-XXXX number, you can technically fill out the DS160, pay your fees, and schedule your interview now, but doing all of this before the consulate receiving your physical file from the NVC might cause confusion to the consulate staff because your interview appt gets sent to their system before they receive the file.

Now are case was received in HCM city and indicates "ready"

So technically we can fill out the ds160 and schedule our interview?

I have seen mixed responses, some say we can do this now and some say we have to wait for packet 3 to be mailed
