Please help !! USCIS made an error on my green card, denied I-90

May 2014 -  got married

September 2015 - We went in and had the interview

September 22, 2015 - I received the green card. The Resident Since date on the green card is 05/2014 (the date of my marriage). So I filed I-90 to request a replacement.

October 26, 2015 - USCIS received my I-90 application, green card replacement due to USCIS error

March, 2017 - I sent in an email to PSC with the evidence  attached to explain my case  (the Welcome Notice with the real date when I became resident- 09/2015)
April 10, 2017 - I received a denial notice for I-90 because they said my conditional green card expired (even though in reality, it didn't)

I've talked to many USCIS officers over the phone but they were adamant that the system shows that I became resident in May 2014 and my green card expired.
The one I talked to today said I have to file a motion, I-290b application, and a $675 filing fee.
I'm devastated and don't know what to do. I was punished for trying to do the right thing and now I'm an expired green card holder.

What should I do???
Please let me know if you've had the same problem ! Thank you

Sorry that happened to you :/ :/ :/

I had interesting dates on my 2 year GC as well.  When I called to inquire about when I should apply to remove conditions they said to apply regarding the GC expiry date.

I like Faith38's suggestion about reaching out to an immigration lawyer...

I should have done what you did. What would have simplified the situation a lot more and I wouldn't have to wait over a year for the corrected green card. Thank you.

Hi Ceeho,

I'm having now the same problem you had. How did you end up resolving it?

Hi! I reached out to an attorney near where I live, who is really great. I told him the situation and he emailed a high ranked officer and got it resolved within 5 minutes. It was effortless. I did everything I could before getting help from the attorney as a last resort. I even got an Infopass appointment but the people at the office were not helpful. They could see that the dates on the documents didn’t match but refused to admit that the dates on the card was wrong. It was a frustrating time.

You should get an infopass appointment and go in to talk to them in person. Bring supporting documents and hope for the best. If nothing works, i’d recommend getting help from a good attorney. They really know what they’re doing. Don’t worry about filing for removing of conditions based on the wrong dates. They just need to correct it in the system and you will be fine. Best of luck !
