Questions on Filing I-751

Hi everyone! I will be submitting my I-751 packet soon but I have some questions. Hope you can help me.

 

1. How will the USCIS inform me that they have received my application? Will I be notified through mail or an email? Can I do both? (Mail and email at the same time?) Which is better?

 

2. If they're going to inform me through email. Is there a form that I need to fill up and send it to them so I can get it from my email?

 

3. And what's the difference between a Lockbox and a Service Center. I live in Virginia so where will I send my application?

 

Hope I can get answers before I submit my application. Thanks in advance!

Once you send your package uscis will send you a notice letter by mail , that letter will extend your green card for one more year until they approve your case , after that you will get another letter for your biometric appointment, that letter contain a number to track your status case ,  you will require to send your package at Vermont service center since you live in Virginia, here is the address

Thank you njblue! Is this also in the same mail (Notice of Action Mail) I will receive the receipt number? If I'm not mistaken we will also receive a receipt number for our application. 

 

And I'm wondering too if I need to create an online account for me to check the status of my case or for I-751 applicants we don't need to do this? Thanks!

You will receive a notice of action by mail yes and you will receive a biometric appointment with your case number , if you wish you can create an account to check on your status I did mine since adjustment of status and now I'm adding my i751 to it.

Hi njblue! Thank you so much for the prompt reply! It's such a great help. By the way the account you created on USCIS for I-751 was it the G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance? I did this when I filed the form I-485 but this has already expired last 2015. I'm wondering what account you created.

 

My GC will expire on August 10, 2017.  When is the date for me to submit my application? Thank you again!
