What about those of us that don't have a driver's license or state ID yet? Has anyone had issues flying domestically in the US using their foreign passport, GC + extension letter? Travelling over the weekend my GC expires and I'm not sure exactly how things will go down....

I've been to four different airports domestically and showed my GC and wasn't asked to show the letter. I don't think you will have a hard time, still carry the letter with you, of course.

I wanted to give an update on this because I couldn't find a lot of posts about it. I applied and was granted TSA Precheck with my extension letter! It took the full 60 days that they said for processing but no extra questions were asked, all they needed was my expired green card.

Congratulations! You should have applied to Global Entry which simplifies entry to the US when travelling internationally. It's slightly more expensive but already includes TSA Precheck in it.

Hello Everyone,

May I ask if anyone has recently traveled to the Philippines with an Extension Letter? Thank you!

You will have no trouble at all in the Philippines.  With USCIS being as slow as they are, a significant number of Filipino green card holders are traveling with an extension letter.  Anyone at NAIA who deals with US bound passengers is seeing extension letters daily and knows all about them.

Just a quick update, we sailed this week on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas and had no problems at all checking in with my husbands extension letter to the cruise or when we came back and had to go through customs and border patrol. In fact, the officer barely even gave his extension letter a glance.

Traveled to Brazil, both MAO and GRU airports were more than familiar with extension letters, no trouble coming back in through ATL.

Hi everyone, curious if anyone knows what happened if the i751 got approved while we are traveling abroad. Are we still able to enter US just with the extension letter?

Thanks!

Yes.

Read more here:

TL;DR airline won't know your 10 year GC was approved. As long as you have expired GC and valid extension letter, you're fine. CBP will admit you because you're LPR.

Just to be clear -- it should be expired GC with extension letter.  Extension letter by itself is not acceptable for US entry.

Yes! I mean along with the expired GC.
