That's great! I'm traveling next month to the Philippines with the same documents. Wish me luck!

My spouse returned yesterday as well, arriving in Miami with expired green card and the extension letter.  Except for the airline attendant who asked a supervisor to verify before boarding the plane in Panama, everything went fine, and was not event sent to secondary inspection.

Flew to Canada on United Airlines.  This was my wife’s  first time flying without an ETA as per a policy change (see https://www.cic.gc.ca/English/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1053&top=16 from April 2022).

United at our airport of departure wants pax, to use its kiosks.  I warned the employee it wouldn’t work.  She said “if it doesn’t work there is something wrong with your ticket.” While I admired her unfounded confidence in United’s customer facing IT systems, I instead I told her our tickets are perfect.

The kiosk wouldn’t scan my wife’s Burmese passport.  The employee blamed her passport.

The kiosk also didn’t recognize that an LPR has a visa waiver for Canada.

Finally the employee accepted the inevitable  and manually processed us.  And sure enough her systems said LPRs have a visa waiver.  She accepted the extension letter just fine.  My wife  boarded  the actual flight without incident.

In Canada, for the first time ever the CBSA kiosk processed the both of us just fine.   The CBSA kiosk read her passport just fine.  A few minor questions by the CBSAO and we were done in 10 minutes  after landing.

I cannot recommend United Airlines for travel by LPRs to Canada. From previous experiences I must exclude Air Canada too.  We’ve never had trouble with American Airlines and will be using AA on the trip back.

Good to hear she boarded the flight.

We flew with United. Tried to check in with the app, I could not do it. Hubby (USC) checked in with no issues.

Went to the check in counter at the departing airport, gave lady my passport, expired GC, and extension letter. Lady asked me if I was flying on my F1 student visa (mind you, that visa is looooong expired). Told her no, pointed the GC and the letter to her, and she understood the situation. Boarded with no issues.

Flew into IAH, CBP clearance took literally 30 seconds. On the other hand, B1 B2 holders were being pulled to secondary left and right. Hubby joked and said "once you're a resident, they don't really care about you anymore!"

Don't worry.  Just back from the Philippines.  My wife was traveling with her extension letter and it was no problem in the Philippines or at JFK. Just have your vaccination cards and the Philippine One Pass.

Just be sure to check the Philippine government website for current covid status for where you may wish to travel so you will have the proper documentation.  All the places we visited were Level 1 so there was no problem as long as we were fully vaccinated and had the documentation.  However, covid has been on the increase and there was a rumor that Manila could go to Level 2. Basically at Level 1 you needed to show your vaccination status to enter most buildings so keep the documentation handy or keep your One Pass on your phone.

I have an infopass appointment tomorrow to get my ADIT stamp. Once I receive this does anyone know if I still have to take my GC and the extension letter while I travel.

My husband has his appointment next week! So I'm not 100 percent , but the lady on the phone said the stamp is all he needs it's a valid way to travel.

Bc we don't have his green card *never received it* and filed i90. Plus just his extension letter and his name is spelled wrong. 🙄

So she said that would be all one needs to travel is the stamp.

I expect USCIS to take your green card (so make sure to get a front and back copy) and your extension letter.

Otherwise yes, carry those two documents in addition to your adit. Present just the adit to the carrier.  Be prepared for CBP to ask for all three documents.

I got the stamp. They took my CG but not my extension letter.
