Hii.

Anyone who applied for the I-551 stamp?

My 18 months extension expires in August 14th according to the I-797 letter.

How early can I make the appointment for the stamp and how do I have to do?

Thank you. :)

You have to call USCIS 30 days before it expires, so I guess you can call anytime. When I did it in March, I called and was told someone would call me back to schedule it. Then, I just went to my appointment, handed over my GC and got the stamp. I used ask Emma to get the conversation started I think.

Keep also in mind that right now it could take USCIS up to 20 days to call back for what in their eyes is a non-urgent appointment. So if you are in a hurry, you might want to call USCIS Tier 1 agent for an InfoPass appointment before the last 30 days of your extension letter/stamp validity begins.

Getting there, slowly but surely...  (I hope )

Together (well...mostly the Transatlanticism kind of together) Since 12/2013

CR-1:

Married in Sweden 8/2017
(Well Frontloaded) I-130 Sent 12/2017
CR-1 Approved 10/2018
POE LAX 01/11/2019

I-751:

I-751 Package Sent with UPS 11/11/2020
I-751 Received by the AZ Lockbox 11/13/2020
I-751 Check Cashed 12/31/2020
I-797 (with My Last Name Misspelled...) Received by Mail 1/2/2021

Biometrics Appointment Received by Mail...too bad I am in Europe right when it's supposed to take place 🤯 6/14/2021

Rescheduled Biometrics Appointment, the biometric technician can't change the misspelled name on file, but he enters the correct spelling of my last name as an alias 8/2/2021

Interview Ready to Be Scheduled 10/13/2021

(Two Days Later) Interview Was Scheduled 😱 10/15/2021

I-751 Interview, Petition Approved 🥳 11/19/2021

Case Status Changed to New Card Is Being Produced 11/19/2021

Case Status Changed to Case Was Approved 11/22/2021

Green Card Arrived in the Mail (Name Correctly Spelling, w00t) 11/27/2021

When USCIS Misspells Your Name:

Typographical error form filled on USCIS website 1/4/2021
Contacted USCIS if there has been any progress since THEIR error (Received a Tier 1 tracking number) 2/6/2021
Contacted USCIS again as the issue remains to be resolved (Received ANOTHER Tier 1 tracking number) 3/12/2021
Apparently USCIS chat is worthless; CALLED USCIS, Tier 1 agent promised that a Tier 2 agent would call me 4/28/2021
Received a call from a nice Tier 2 officer who said I may or may not get a correct extension letter, but just in case I would be scheduled an InfoPASS appointment 5/4/2021
Went to local USCIS service center and had to deal with a nasty and entitled customer service agent who refused to give me an I-551 stamp. National Benefits Center is supposed to mail me another I-797 within 7-10 days... So I had to waste my day, taking buses for two hours one-way just to deal with this lady's attitude? 5/7/2021

After anxiously monitoring our mailbox for a few days I DID receive a corrected I-797, w00t! All documents good to go Vaccinated Ready to visit my parents in Europe for the first time in 17 months!!  5/13/2021

The lesson: Don't use the chat for anything complicated, AND keep hassling USCIS for a response...

I need eTA to travel to Canada. I got

one in 2019 when my GC was unexpired. Since then I have obtained a new passport (last one expired) and now my GC is also expired too due to pending i751. I have an 18 months extension letter.

The problem is that when I go to fill out online application for eTA it asks for the Alien number and GC expiration date which does not give an option to select any past date.. I am unable to proceed because of it. Has anyone experienced this and if so how did you get around it?

You have your Extension Letter, don't you?

When I needed  eTA during my ROC process, I just entered an Extension Letter "expiration" date. There was none on the Letter, of course, so I added a year to  my 2 years GC expiration date.

For example: 09/15/2017-- date of expiration of GC

09/14/2018 - the date on the sTA application

Worked just fine and didn't have any issues, traveling to/through/in Canada.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing. Technically the extension letter provides 18 months so I will just use that date for eTA application.

Call them back and say it is urgent (imminent travel for example)

Last month I was told 20 days for a callback and they took 28 to call…..

However after 14 days I had called them back and requested an urgent call back (which is within 72hrs, I received it within 4) and an appointment the next morning.

You may or may not be asked for proof of urgency so prepare accordingly.

If it’s just the expiry you are worried about, then don’t - proof of status expires, not the status itself

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks).
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE...
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time.
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case.
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied]

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) ....

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello Dear Friends,

I have a valid I-551 on my passport, however, only the binding of the passport is loose, held by 2 stitches. Everything else is intact and legible.

Is the I-551 valid on that, and is the passport valid? Does this fall under the definition of a damaged passport being invalid for travel?

If I obtain a replacement passport from my home country's consulate, will the I-551 be valid on the older passport or would I need to obtain a new I-551 in the new passport after its issue.

US visas are valid in an expired passport when accompanied by a replacement valid passport, so I see no reason why an I-551 stamp won’t be.

My own recent latest I-551 stamp expiry is dated several months beyond the passport expiry next year.

Worth clarifying with USCIS though (in writing if possible) .

In fact, when I re-enter the US next I will ask.

Ok. Thank you for clarifying that to me.

Im not traveling or applying for jobs at the moment so I guess im gonna wait those 30 days.

What it was worrying me was if the status expires with the letter.

Actually, my passport does not expire until 2024, way later than the current I-551 stamp expring. The issue is the 'maybe damaged' passport, the binding of the pages has come lose, the cover and page booklet dangling with 2 threads :D

Not sure if that is valid or not? And if the I-551 in it is valid also or not.

please tell me, did you fly with a 551 form in your passport? if you flew were there any problems with boarding at the airport?

Hi,
My husband has this status "Case is ready to be scheduled" from last month on his I-751 application. The extension letter for 18 months that he got is expiring next week. He has to travel to meet his parents soon. Please help what can be done to expedite the interview, or at least have something so that he can travel and come back safely.

What is the number to call to get an appointment for stamp? Please help.
