Hey, planning to travel with Lufthansa with Exp GC and Letter , how was your experience with them ? pls thnks.

Lufthansa is well aware what the "combo" of an expired green card+an Ext. letter stands for. You should be good.

have a safe trip!

I had the same flight itinerary with Delta last summer (in July) , I had no issues with an expired GC and extension. Delta is aware 100% of the combo.

Have a safe trip!

Has anyone travelled to India on the extension letter? Any issues while coming back at India and in the US?

With India it'####### or miss depending on personnel. We traveled with the i551 stamp, the airline/immi folks we encountered were unfamiliar with the stamp but the check-in supervisor asked if we had the extension letter; luckily we did and handed it over for them to review. No issues thereafter in Delhi.

I suggest asking for a Supervisor if the initial agents express bewilderment; someone at the airports should be familiar.

have you flied with them with your combo ? if so how was it? thank u !

Yes, I have. With both - with a "combo"  of an expired green card + an Ext.letter and later,  - just with I-551 stamp in my passport. Not an issue, at all.

you should be fine :)

Thanks all.

You would need the stamp only if your "combo" is about to be expired.

You will only need the stamp if the combo card is about to expire.

Puerto Rico is part of the US. They're unlikely to check immigration status on the flight back to the mainland.

But if they do, the gc+extn letter combo should be fine.

anyone have any experience at Atlanta Port of Entry with expired GC and Extension letter? what line should i go in?

Go to the Permanent Resident/Citizen line. Tell the attendant that you have a GC & Extension letter and need to see an officer.

On another not, I recently came back from Belize using my expired GC & extension letter - this time at the airport check-in (flew with United), they neither wanted to see the GC nor the letter. Odd. But I had no issues checking in, boarding or crossing the border in the US.

I have thankfully received my 10year GC, so will no longer have to deal with the letter at all.

In the 15 or so months I had the extension letter I had serveral international trips, Germany x2, Indonesia, Qatar, Belize & Ecuador - no real issues with the extension letter. I had to explain what the letter was at the airport check-in once or twice but no one gave me any real hassle. Immigration on the US side was always smooth. Hand over GC & letter, scan fingerprints, go - never more than 2mins with the CBP officer.

Don't be afraid of traveling with the extension letter.
