Hi everyone,

I am traveling from SFO <-> BLR, india. From all the previous posts, I am not the least worried about immigration (+ I have global entry) ,

I am flying Singapore Airlines. Any experience in this area? I will be flying with expired green card + NOA but anything I can convince the airline staff at BLR + SIN?

I'll be traveling next month to India -

1. I plan to travel with Valid passport, expired green card and 12-month extension letter. Should I carry anything else with me?

2. Has anyone been through secondary inspection because I'll be landing in JFK and catching connecting flight which is in 3 hours gap, should bother changing my flight beforehand or 3 hours will be enough?

So, we are traveling domestically (Miami to NYC) for Christmas vacation. I know that we don't need extension letter for actual travel as we are flying within the United States and a state government issued ID will get us through security and on the plane..... My question is..... Is it a good idea to take the extension letter with us in case we have any issues while in NYC as the green card will be expired by then? I would prefer not to travel with it. Once again, this is not in regards to getting on and off the plane or through the airport but more a question of whether others carry the extension letter with them when traveling to accompany the expired green card.

Thanks,

P

Has anyone travel with the extension letter to Vancouver ?

I traveled through Canada last year. It wasn't Vancouver though, but Toronto.  Anyway - not a biggie, at all.

The only thing  - if you are flying, then you have to apply for eTA.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/eta.html

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas-tool.asp?

Takes 5 minutes to get a decision and costs $7 CAD.

Hey there! I am traveling to my home country of Mexico in a few weeks with an extension and my expired green card. However, I apply for the removal of conditions with a waiver as I got a divorce of my ex-husband. Do any of you have a similar experience? Did you had issues coming back?

My recent experiences traveling on the extension letter have been good. I flew back to the US from the middle East (Doha, Qatar Airways) & Indonesia (Garuda) respectively. The check-in agents for both airlines were unfamiliar with the extension letter, but gave me no hassle after I explained the letter extends the green card for one year. In Doha, I had to show the letter about 3 times prior to boarding, but again, no hassle.

I entered the US via JFK - the border agents were their usual brisk (i.e. not the friendliest) self, but immigration took no more than 5 minutes with a quick glance at the letter & expired GC and taking finger prints and stamping my passport.

I have traveled 3 times on the letter now - no issues so far. I hope it stays that way as I'll probably have more internationally travels on it before I can expect my 10 year card given all the delays in processing.

I traveled with extension letter on Sept this year. Upon my return, the officers at PDX airport told me I should apply for N400 and don’t keep waiting for USCIS  his quote “this is their fault to make you wait you should apply for N400 as soon as it eligible for you. They just keep it inconvinience for ppl. good luck dude” 😅

All - I will be travelling with 18 month extension letter and Expired GC. While coming back to the US, assuming I go into the PR line -

1. Do I scan my expired GC on the machine? Or will that not work?

2. I am assuming I will get the slip with a Big X on it - and I will have to go to a counter?

Please share your experiences? Thanks
