Just came back to San Francisco from a month in Colombia. Travelled with the passport stamp as my extension letter was expired. On the way in, instead of going through the machines I walked over to the counters, showed my passport to the immigration officer, he reviewed, asked me to scan my fingertips and then told me he could not confirm the stamp in there so I needed to go to the secondary office. Walked there, the officer looked at my passport, asked me if my letter had expired, I told him my GC expired, then my extension letter expired so now I have the stamp. He checked his computer and stamp my passport with the admitted stamp. All done in 10minutes. Hope this helps other people.

Thanks for sharing. My experience was exactly the same. I worried a little when I was sent to secondary but it was just to validate the stamp and answer a few very simple questions. The officer even assured me that my new GC should be processed soon when I told him I had been waiting for over a year.

I have a question again, When does our extension letter expire?

One year from the expiration date on your Green Card.

Just venting, I just think it's awful that USCIS puts us through this, my husband and I love to travel domestically and abroad, but when it gets to the point that his GC has expired, ext. letter almost there, and WTH we can't ever get an INFO pass appointment in Baltimore, MD...I mean like what do we do now...it's awful, especially when they cashed our check for ROC in 10 seconds, I swear it has to be another way, all the trouble we are put through at the airports is just shameful, I mean you get through but by time you are you want at least a couple of drinks and seven cigarettes..GEESH!!!  OK vent over!!

However, all that said, USCIS has transferred many applications to the local offices to assist with the extreme workloads at the service centers so you could have an approval by then. You can check your status in 2 ways.

Out of interest, how do you know that? It would make sense considering how quickly the local offices process biometrics that they could push some of the main applications their way, also.

On the 11th there was still much speculation on what was happening with the 'transferred to local office' notices people were getting when checking status.  At that time there was hope it meant field office but can't be proven since USCIS isn't providing additional information as to what is the 'local office'.  There is some chatter that it means CSC and VSC

It makes sense to me too (to sent them to the field offices) but what do I know??? :)

Hello everyone I am planning to travel soon on may for around 3 weeks with my wife she has her extension letter we filed on August 2017 her green card expired on October 2017. Has anyone had any feedback or issue going to DR with extension letter. Booked on Delta airlines. Leaving from NYC anyone has had recent experience? Thanks.

Good day!

My wife is looking to purchase airline tickets however when asked online about her Green Card expiration date, should she put the original expired date or add the extra year to the date?

She currently has the NOA I-751 and it mentions a year extension, but our concern is the airline.

I went to infopass, asked them about this (As I had this notification)... I've moved to Maryland,so was hoping this would mean mine would be moved out of CSC, bad news is it hasn't.. . so I think that update means nothing.

Too bad....will it though?  I would assume Maryland cases would be out of VSC (I haven't checked) and that they would move your case.  Well, good news is, VSC is ahead of CSC, maybe, just maybe, they'll ask for extra work or more files (to work on cuz they're so fast) and yours will be one of them!!! :D

As for the notice, yah, I agree with you.....means nothing.
