Hi all

I filed I-751 on 04/11/17 which is exactly 90 days from my GC expiration on 07/10/17. The delivery was confirmed and I know the person who signed to pick it up is a USCIS employee.

It has been more than 2 weeks and I did not receive anything back yet. The personal check has not been cashed either.

Becoming very concerned because I will be traveling outside the US from 05/16/17. My question is what do I need to do if I don't receive NOA until the travel date?

Obviously I don't have receipt number and can't really track my case or even inquire about this issue over the phone.

Thank you!

If your NOA/extension letter do not arrive at least a week before you are scheduled to leave, I would schedule an Infopass appointment at your local office.  Make sure you have a copy of your 751 package if you end up needing to do this.

Hopefully you will be fine and your extension letter will arrive soon.

Good Luck!

Schedule an InfoPass appointment soon... I wouldn't wait until a week before to try and schedule something - sometimes the appointments fill up quickly. At least that's been our experience.

So, your GC expires on 7/10/17 and you leave the country on 5/16/17?

Will you be back in the US before your GC expires on 7/10? If so, you shouldn't have any issues coming back into the US without an extension letter (this happened with my husband when we were in Spain on a trip and he wasn't asked for anything). If your green card isn't expired when coming back into the US, you shouldn't have any issues.

If you're going to be out of the US and coming back in AFTER your GC expires on 7/10, then you definitely need that letter, so maybe schedule an InfoPass appointment now for the near future just to have some peace of mind.

Thank you both!

I just booked an infopass appointment on 9th, a week from my departure. I will be returning from travel in August so yes I my GC will expire while I'm gone.

Would I need to bring the whole I-751 packet (including evidences of marriage etc) to the inforpass appointment along with the check?
