Is bottled water really better than tap?

we have a water distiller here.. it works pretty well.. its nasty to look inside after its done to see what is all left behind.. but the water it puts out is really good. the only problem is that it takes about 8 or 9 hours to make less than a gallon...

for those of you that say reverse osmosis, how does it compare to distilled? i can't see distilled having more in it than reverse osmosis (not saying anything bad about reverse osmosis, i really like it).. just curious..
