Hello,

 

I tried to read through the guides but I'm still a little bit confused.

 

Here is the situation: I am a german citizen engaged to a US citizen. We are currently living in Germany (she has a valid residence permit) but want to go back to the US eventually.

 

We will marry in Germany (unless there is a very good reason to get married in the US).

 

What's important to me is:

- Being able to work as quickly as possible (I'm a software engineer, so I think I'm able to find something quickly)

- Being able to enter the US for holidays as long as the process is still ongoing

 

The waiting time is not so much of a priority as we can both legally stay in Europe while we wait.

 

So my question is: When should we file for what?

CR-1 visa for spouse married under 2 year. It will give you a 2-year GC and you can work and travel right away after you get here.

 

If I am thinking right Germany have DCF which means you can file directly at the embassy and it will go faster then the normal 12-14 months for a CR-1.

 

You can visit doing the process via your ESTA.

DCF in Germany for a CR-1 spousal visa is the best bet.
