You mean, call USCIS everyday? What do you say when you call? They always give us the standard useless answer. I am about to lose a job on September 6th - and we made an expedite request for that and received the "we only approve expedite request for real emergencies"!! I don't think these people realize the stress we go through.

I guess I will call again tomorrow since it will be 120 days.

You can ask to speak with a Tier 2 officer, that way you get more information, sept 6 is almost here, did you ever send them the proof of your job offer?... the first agent that picks the call always give a generic response, as I have read from other peoples post.

Tier1 person said he needs to put in a brief description of the reason for expedite request and if the IO feels like this is an emergency they will ask for more evidence. We had all the evidence ready including letter from employer requesting assistance from USCIS, but alas, they rejected the requested without even asking for evidence.

Like I have read from other posts, losing a job is not considered a real emergency to USCIS it seems :(

You are supposed to be able to provide evidence and have an expedite request approved based on financial loss. That is very much financial loss if you can't take the job! I'd get sassy.

I didn't call every day, but as soon as I could file another SR, I did. I called to check on it and I called to check on it again. And to be honest, I got really sassy. Most people probably don't agree with that, but I don't care. It's my life...we need two incomes.

I do wish you so much luck. I understand the hardship and stress this all causes.

Wow losing a job is not an emergency? I think you should try again, it doesn't sound right that someone can see loss of a job as no big deal. Like  @millrbrit said, you gotta be on their neck, don't let them breathe LoL, maybe they'd do what they ought to do...

Hey, I also risked losing my job without an expedite. Maybe I can help? I got my EAD within 35 days of mailing my application.

Yes. Would love to receive advice from you. You just mailed in an expedite request along with your initial application?

Still haven't heard about EAD/AP or AOS interview.  August 9 service request still not assigned for processing.  Just submitted another one, so fingers crossed. We're at 106 days from PD and getting really frustrated, especially because our SR hasn't even been looked at.

Glad to see a lot of you making progress, though.  It's just discouraging.

No, I did quite a lot because I was desperate.

1. Included letter in application. I doubt that helped any.

2. CONTACTED MY CONGRESSMAN!! Call them!!!

3. Wrote in to the ombudsman. This also never helped because I was still within the processing time. It might work out differently for you.

4. Put in FIVE SRs on the phone. Asked that they read me back whatever it was they typed in the SR request and constantly mentioned that I would lose my job.

5. Had my USC husband call and email the congressman with his voter ID number constantly asking for updates.

6. Contacted the SENATOR. Now he said he couldn't help. But what he DID do was contact the congressman (AGAIN) on my behalf.

7. Booked TWO infopasses. They were also unhelpful because they said they had "never seen" an EAD get produced in 1 month (well, in your face USCIS!!!) Because you are well overdue, this might be different for you too. Schedule an infopass asap and bring all your documents.

I EVENTUALLY received an email from USCIS asking me for evidence. Once you get there, we can discuss all the things to send in.

You need to call and talk to a tier 2 and ask why the hell nobody is listening to you. Tell them you're about to lose your job! Cry! I did! Lol. You need to schedule an infopass. And you need to call your congressman.

I am with you in this because I know how stressful it was having a job on the line.

And also maybe they didn't ask for evidence because they're already processing your application? Could be!

sending allllll the positive vibes your way xoxoxo

@spanwilder - let me try to get you some help.  First, can I ask some questions?

Have you tried requesting a tier 2 officer when you call?

What was your SR for, EAD, AOS?  What was the reason for your SR, case outside of normal processing time?  Have you seen whether it's been assigned to an agent yet by checking the case status page?  What was your SR date (when did you put it in and when did they say to expect a reply)?

Which office are your case(s) at and what are you adjusting from?

also, if you fill out a timeline it's much easier for all of us to help you and for you to help us :)

Did you call your representative's DC office or local office? What did you say? Did you give the staffer a receipt number or just your name? Also, were you able to call or did your USC spouse have to do it? Can we talk to whichever intern or staffer picks up the phone, or should we ask for someone with more authority or a specific job title?

If we don't hear back about our first service request after 30 days we're going to start calling our congresswoman, and just wanted to hear what you did.  You clearly did something right!

Wow. That's amazing Thank you so much for the detailed explanation.

I have already contacted the congressman's office. The representative said there might be a case for humanitarian reasons here (because I am a pediatric oncologist and my inability to start work affects healthcare for children with cancer!). They have asked for all the documents yesterday but haven't gotten back. Should I wait for the congressman's office to respond or put in another expedite request?

I also just checked for another InfoPass appointment and nothing is available in the next 14 days. I guess I will have to keep checking.

I will certainly ask for Tier2 officer tomorrow since it will be 120 days and "beg for help".

Hi papasmf,

My apologies.

I have talked to Tier2 officers twice - the first time the person said 'you have exhausted all your options and there is nothing you can do'.

The second time, the person was a lot more sympathetic and said "Oh man! You truly need help. Let me escalate it" and then in the middle of transferring me to someone else, the phone got disconnected!! :(

My PD s May 1st. SR raised by the lawyer on July 31st due to the case being outside normal processing time. Since case was not even assigned to an IO by August 7th, I called again and Tier1 representative assigned it to someone on August 7th. On August 8th, I received the same trite response "you need to wait another 60 days....sorry for the inconvenience"

My case is at Nebraska and is based on my spouse's approved I-140 back in February. We applied for I-485, I-765 and I-131 simultaneously. I used to be on H1 myself previously, but that expired on June 30th and my current status is I-485 pending. His H1 is still valid so he is fine.

Local. I called and said "I'm having issues with my immigration application, who can help me?" And she gave me the number to the woman who deals with the immigration issues on behalf of my congressman. I called and told her what was happening. She knew the process and all the lingo so it was easy to explain. I only made my USC spouse because I thought it would be more effective letting them know my USC spouse is young, future military, and born and raised in the state we live.

I say do it! The thing is I did sooooo many things, I can't point to the thing that ultimately got me approved. The only step you need to get to is being asked for more evidence to justify the expedite.  Then we will ALL tackle that together.
