Oh no. I'm not going back to my country. In order to travel with AP, I need a valid passport. I don't have one and can't apply for a passport from my country. That's why the USCIS issued me a refugee travel document to be able to travel before. Now it has expired, so I applied for a new one along with my I-485. But they sent me an AP instead.

Oh ok, I am sorry I misunderstood you...

You should call them right, and they should be able to fix it, October from now is lot of times to get it fixed I hope,

don't be mad, they are humans too and are bound to make mistakes, I pray and hope you get it so you don't miss out on your trip, give them a call and lets see how it goes...

Yeah AP is just a document that allows you to re-enter the US as far as I understand, will try to research further to be sure

Evening!

Congrats to everyone getting their EAD/APs and interviews scheduled. Just reading through it seems that people with RFEs have had more luck getting the interviews and cards?

I was just curious- we have a trip planned back to the UK (where my husband is from) on August 25th... he planned to stay for a few weeks and we were thinking that if the EAD/AP card hadn't arrived in the mail before we left, I could mail it to him and he would have it when he came home at the end of September. Is this allowed? Does he need the card to leave? Or will him leaving trigger something in the system and they will assume he has abandoned his AOS?

Also- I tried to submit an inquiry as it has been 79 days with no change in our status but it wouldn't let me as we were "within normal processing times". I'm confused since other people with similar timelines successfully submitted an inquiry?

Thanks for your help!

Did you submit an inquiry about your EAD being more than 75 days pending with no update or mail correspondence from them, or was if for AP or AOS?  Try doing it for EAD if it wasn't for that.  I haven't heard back yet about my wife's EAD inquiry, will let you all know as soon as I do

Thank you! USCIS opens on Saturday, right? I will definitely call them tomorrow.

Yea, AP is just a doc that allows you to re-enter while your I-485 is still pending, but it is not an actual passport/travel doc.

I have been reading this thread for a long time now and got a positive update first time in a while. An interview is scheduled for I-485. We had an RFIE(Initial) for my Turkish birth certificate. Now we are waiting on the EAD/AP. Good luck everyone!

Congratulations!!! that is great news. you dont even need to worry about the EAD/AP card since your interview is so close... You will have your GC in hand before u know it and all this can be behind you till you have to remove conditions!!! wish you good luck...

Thanks for your help!

I would suggest that you wait till your husband receives his card before he leaves the country as it says on the USCIS website that you need the card before you leave the country or you will abandon your i-485 application... you will most probably get the card in time for the trip according to timelines on this forum so have faith and don't do anything risky as this is a very important process for all of us who are on here... Hope you hear good news soon and i would suggest just calling the helpline to put in an SR if you cant do it online...

I agree with some of the other people who have replied to you, and think that this can be easily fixed through your INFOPASS appointment or even a call on the helpline explaining your situation... Also, like someone else said October is far enough away that you can have this resolved with some time to spare before you have to worry about traveling... Best of luck and i will hold you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you get a quick resolution of the situation... Fingers crossed...

@Wiz_Fit, I have my interview on the 2nd of august... my PD is May 24th... Buffalo is a small office, that's probably why... I think from what I have seen on this forum for a while, most GC interviews are scheduled within 6 to 9 months so your wife might even get an interview before you go for your vacation... That way things would be more clear cut and cleaner... Good luck!!!

Awesome ok thats good.

Noob question how do you know which NVC it's at? I just assumed Dallas since we live closest to Dallas right and would interview there?

Update, got her EAD on Friday, first day of her job is next Monday! She has her SS Card from before so not really waiting on that mail since she has one and they confirmed it would stay the same. We are just gonna call for a new card/visit today though as well as get license stuff done.

Good day everyone, i've been reading all the posts and updates regarding the aos. i originally sent my application April 4th, but was rejected due to wrong I-485 form. resent our package on may 3rd, and was received may 4th. but didn't get a text or email until may 22nd. I did my biometrics on June 16th at Oakland, CA, and as of June 21, my status update was "ready to be scheduled for an interview", but until now still haven't received any updates on the the interview. even my EAD was last updated May 4th, case received. Is this normal? i'm starting to worry since i see other people getting the EAD fast and interviews scheduled. thanks everyone

Check my timeline, our applications were received on May 3, did biometrics June 1, no word yet on anything, case status still just says received.  Hang in there, and if you've gone more than 75 days without an update on EAD, you can submit a case inquiry (or if you qualify you could try to get an expedite on your EAD)
