True but since I am not expediting EAD I still have 2+ months to go before I get it, so I rather try. I have been doing a lot of reading and as soon as USCIS accept I-485 application it gives legal status. In Texas a pending I-485 (797c letter of acceptance) is a valid document to prove lawfull status, a requirement to get a drivers license.

and you already have your SSN?

I do, I got it long time ago

You should be good to go with your I-485 NOA, SSN and whatever other documents you need. Did you say you applied with a different name than is written on your SS card? If so, you might run into some problem but my DMV overcame that hurdle and issued me a license using my maiden name. I am thinking you should be okay. Good luck!

Also, my license was issued for one year.

I requested the Expedite on my EAD on Monday and Tuesday night received an email confirming it. But case hasn't changed in USCIS website and I haven't gotten any letter on the mail or anything.

Usually how long after request expedite you get the letter requesting the evidence?

Read the email again. It should not just be a confirmation email but should provide you instructions on how to fax evidence. Look about 2 paragraphs up from the bottom. It should say something like: The status of this service request is:

Upon receipt of your request for expeditious handling, your case was reviewed and a determination was made that we need additional information to make a decision regarding your request. Please fax proof of your extreme emergent need or severe financial loss to the following number: 816-###-####, Attn: LA####, Div. # Team #. All foreign language documents must be accompanied by a full English translation. Please include this notice with your fax.

Nope, I read all emails with extreme detail. Mine only says "The status of this service request is:

Your case is currently under review.  You should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly."

That is all that says

Yikes. What was the reason you gave for an expedite? I have probably requested an expedite 4 times and received an email 3 times with request for evidence within 24 hours. Sorry I'm no help :(

Same as everybody else. Financial loss. Told them we had a few unexpected expenses that really drained our savings and that I needed to start working ASAP.

No, I used the same name that I used on my adjustment of status

EAD expedites are usually "handled" within 1-2 days max. They send you a letter in the mail requesting evidence, which you send and then after another 4-5 days they usually approve if evidence is sufficient.

If they approve the case status changes to "Card in production" or "Case was accepted".

Well then I guess I should get worried because Monday is going to be a week since I requested it :S
