Just realized for some reason, its causing me to post under 2 names.... weird.

We called the USCIS today and found out that they took down the wrong email address!!! She confirmed it 3 times on the original call, and then twice on the follow up call.... no paper mail yet as of yet either.. so 5 days down for nothing... Said Tier 2 would call/email us within the hour so... lets see what happens with that ....SIGH

Well that's just ANNOYING! But good to know they've been trying to get in touch with you. Things will go much quicker now!

So our expedite request got a "You have a pending RFE response, wait for your RFE to be received..." Great part about this, the status on the USCIS site changed on 6/21 2 hours after we filed the expedite request, meaning if we got the email we could of just called and told them to reprocess the expedite.... so we didn't even get a real expedite request processed!

Gets better, now thanks to the first rep who put in the request, we can't change the email to the correct email so with the new expedite request we got, our options are; a) call back and ask for the RFE to be read to us once we get it as a reason why we are expediting OR wait for a paper copy of the letter...What kind of system won't allow you to change an email?!

Hoping the senators contact helps, only way I see her making it by July 10 at all now sadly or even by the 17th or 24th.... Just gonna have her call daily now...

HOWEVER good news,  our RFE for our 485 got processed and it now shows case is ready to be scheduled for an interview!! What happens now? Do we just randomly get a letter that gives us an interview date? Whats the time frame from this status online to the actual letter getting here? Assumed our interview wouldn't be until after January. I guess that means all the paperwork about my income was good! It does look like every time we call our case gets updated online though! Maybe this is a good sign for our EAD and AP?!

Also none of the other forms update, 130 or 131... Do those get processed separately or do they get just "finished" when our 485 is closed out?

Wow...what a ride!!!

As far as timing goes, if this is an extension of EAD, check to see if she can continue working after the current one expires since the extension has been requested and received by USCIS.  When I was working under TN1's, so long as the extension request was received prior to expiration I was allowed to continue working until USCIS made their decision to extend.  A favorable response to that question would relieve a lot of your stress (and help answer a future question of mine should my AOS take longer than a year).

I was wondering about the 130 and 485 also, my received date is May 10th, and I haven't seen or heard anything about them (no RFE or interview date), just my EAD and 131 (my card is dual work/parole).  Who knows, maybe they'll waive the interview since I've been married to a USC for 12 years this August.  Hang in there, if your explanation clears up the income income confusion that hurdle ought to be behind you

08/13/2005     Married USC

05/08/2017     mailed I-130 / I-485 / I-864 / I-765 / I-131

05/16/2017     Case accepted and routed to NBC

05/22/2017     4 NOA1's arrive in the mail

05/27/2017     Biometrics appointment letter arrives in the mail

06/07/2017     Biometrics complete

06/12/2017     Requested expedited EAD

06/15/2017     EAD approved

06/22/2017     EAD/AP arrived in mail

Not an extension :( She has a social security number from before when she was in the states on a J1 but its about 6 years old now... I guess we could ask this question and see though? Cause I imagine its just a few clicks vs setting up a whole new person like before.

Hoping we get AP before November as she has a wedding to leave for as well. Scary!

Hi, if you call the customer service they will definitely tell you that your case is still within the regular processing time, as with you and most of us may filers the response we are all waiting for is the update on our EAD/AP approval..

Although few of us have gotten updates on our I-485 about it being ready to be scheduled for interview, still it doesn't mean that your application or other people who haven't had updates is slower.... or that ours is faster, everyone's cases is different...

Don't be frustrated and anxious, the updates will come soon...Best of luck.

Thanks

MccSya, it depends on your state. Most states allow with NOA for I485 and SSN. Check your state DMV website.

I didn't change my name with SSA but all my I-485 stuff uses my married name. So my DMV said they probably couldn't change it but they were ultimately able.

We are waiting on EAD for SSN and state ID because of our last name change and because we didn't make it to SS office before the cut off time - my wife has previous SSN from prior J1 trip too, and our marriage cert didn't display new last name -- so, we were told by folks on the forums here to apply for AOS, EAD, AP under the new last name, when we went in for biometrics they looked at our marriage cert and approved the name change, which will show up  her EAD card when we finally receive it.  That's our story, not sure if it helps or not but sharing in case it does :)

Citizenship process complete!  First a J1 work/travel Visa visitor from Philippines to Texas where we met each other, then back to Philippines.  Ultimately, immigrated here via a K1 Marriage-based petition in 2016, AOS started in 2017, completed in 2018, ROC started/completed in 2020, N-400/Citzenship granted in 2022 - timeline link below:

This is from DPS website, I tried but they needed to use the SAVE system, and I am supposed to receive a letter stating that my application for adjustment of status is pending. That should be enough

Was worried about doing this just with the amount of time required and money for just a license, think you only get like 6 months this way if you dont have a EAD/AP? I saw another post about this.

Update: Yesterday AP application changed to "Case was accepted", and then EAD changed to "Case was accepted" as well (previously it was "Card in production" after the expedite approval).

Then a few hours later EAD changed to "Card was mailed to me" :)

Hoping it gets here quickly!

True but since I am not expediting EAD I still have 2+ months to go before I get it, so I rather try. I have been doing a lot of reading and as soon as USCIS accept I-485 application it gives legal status. In Texas a pending I-485 (797c letter of acceptance) is a valid document to prove lawfull status, a requirement to get a drivers license.
