Just an update, I walked-in to the Oakland SSN office this morning (8am) - my appointment letter was for June 22nd (this Thursday).

They did not have a problem at all, I was out the door by 08:50am.

At 10:00am I called USCIS again and requested to expedite my EAD (now after Biometrics they said I could do it) with reason of severe financial loss with a job offer.

Waiting for them to contact me to provide them with the offer letter.

As I said, I already started working (4 days ago), but I hope it wouldn't cause an issue (they probably don't know anyway).

No update here just yet, we did my wife's biometrics on June 1st and we've been checking myuscis every day.  It still says the same thing it did when they sent out our first NOAs - Fingerprint Fee Received (485), and Case was Received (765 and 131).

We are patiently waiting for an update.  Congrats to everyone who has heard back on their EADs too, and good luck and God bless those still waiting or dealing with RFEs, we will all help each other through this process :)

Citizenship process complete!  First a J1 work/travel Visa visitor from Philippines to Texas where we met each other, then back to Philippines.  Ultimately, immigrated here via a K1 Marriage-based petition in 2016, AOS started in 2017, completed in 2018, ROC started/completed in 2020, N-400/Citzenship granted in 2022 - timeline link below:

I think there is a difference between an office transcript and copy of your return. Transcript typically does not require W2s where returns do. Either way, is it clear in what you've sent which income in past years is yours and which is your ex's?

I mean I hope - the pay stubs are from my job so don't think they could consider it her income and W2 are just in my name. If they find a way to question it.... Im going to ask them to help me get some taxes back from it at this point.

Also, transcripts do require W2 sometimes as I found out. Most people wouldn't be in my situation but if your sponsoring a child, and maybe just wanted to use your income and not your wife's. I did just miss those instructions as the transcripts don't state who's income is who's. Quoted the directions from the form 864 instructions, so guess I just assumed they could verify this from their system(mainly as my ex-wife made little to no money and was a full time student, thought they could of gathered this.)

Doc's should be delivered today though, so hoping for an update within the month, or expediting whenever the job offer comes through!

Got some goodish news in the mail today, written confirmation that my EAD was approved and approval of my 131 advance parole

Same! Do you think we can use this letter to ensure our employers we're good to go? My EAD expires next week and I have a feeling the card won't actually come in time.

Became a citizen 6/2024. Now filing for my mother.

Yes, I've been told receipt of approval is equivalent to having the card when renewing. You have nothing to worry about😎

We did biometrics on the 18th in Orlando. Appointment was @ 8:00 AM, about 15-20 ppl in line ahead of us. They made us fill out a form with basic, personal information, then pic and fingerprints. Everything went flawless. Gave us a (voluntary) service survey form which they passed with flying colors. All said and done by 8:40 AM👍

Vocal,

you just called the 800-375-5283? Our RFE got delivered today and apparently the company does want to give us the offer today and trying to push to start immediately. Wife asked them to put July 10th as a start date(far enough out to hopefully get feedback from USCIS?)

Planning to go the big push route as mentioned above - call USCIS ask for an expedite and give tracking number for the RFE being delivered and hope, trying to find the post for the senator and congress escalation too so hopefully we can get it. I understand the process is; expedite request -> expedite approval -> EAD decision -> mailing time(2 weeks?) -> Apply for SSN with the EAD in hand -> wait for SSN -> can start job? Or am I off here?

Hey,

Yes I just called the number and went through the excruciating process of talking with a USCIS employee that just makes time appear longer...

I think they will require you to have the RFE response be "received" and processed by USCIS before they acknowledge that they actually "got it". Meaning just showing them a tracking number and saying "it was delivered" wouldn't be enough for them...

Regarding SSN, I applied for one 2 days after entering the US and received it after almost a month. You don't need to wait for anything to apply for SSN and you should do so as fast as possible because most employers will need it to enroll you in benefits/salary. It is also very useful for banks and other bureaucratic nonsense.

Basically no one will ever ask you if you're in the US legally or not. For identifications, state ID/DL is more than enough. Either state or federal agency or even for domestic flights, you can travel using your license.

general tip: avoid taking your passport in public to avoid loss or damage.

I was always told/thought she couldn't apply for a SSN due to entering on a tourist visa even though we filed for an AOS. When asked they just told her to give them the SSN she used 5 years ago when she was here on J1. Could we get a SSN without the EAD adjusting from a tourist?

Any chance she would just use the original SSN with new authorization? In other words are you sure she even needs a new one? After all she already exists in Social Security database, I'd be surprised if she was erased.

I wondered that too! Should we just call SS and ask that question? Could they even tell us? I cant imagine them erasing someone within 5 years... records and all.
