Hey guys

had my interview today, was verbally approved at the end of the interview. The IO said her computer was down so will put it through tomorrow, was not given the 120 day decision letter.

It felt more like a chat rather than an interview, Interview was scheduled for 2pm, we was called in around 230 and was out by 250.

we was sworn in, and ask for Driving Licenses and Passports for both of us.

The IO asked my wife the USC, our address, my full name and date of birth.

She then asked me the same about my wife.

She asked If we had any more evidence to give

- mortgage letter

- car insurance shows both or names

- blank check from joint account

- a 2016 and a December 2017 joint bank statement

- our joint phone bill

she kept all the above but also I took our joint credit cards which show the same number

we still live with the in laws which we explained cos we were saving money and she totally understood.

Then we we spoke about how we met, when, who proposed, how proposed, where proposed, what’s our future plans.

also asked if my wife had met my parents in UK, she hasn’t except by Skype, due to my mom can’t fly and I can’t leave the country, we explained that we plan on going home in the summer.

The IO went through a scrapbook I’d done, and our photos, she loved the photos of our dog and asked for 5/6 for our folder.

Went through some of the Yes/No questions, she was laughing at some of them and what she had to ask.

After that she said I am approving you today, and she will put it through either tonight or tomorrow.

I am patiently waiting for the text/ email update from USCIS

I will answer any questions if you have them

Hi everyone, good to see everyone’s cases going well.

We just got our interview date in March, but the problem is we are moving next week to a different part of the state for my job. I do plan on filing a change of address. But if the appointment is scheduled near my old address, is it possible for us to file a change of address and then just fly down to do the interview at the currently scheduled location? We’d rather take the trip and not reschedule at our new location and wait several more months.

All, I'm a bit confused. My GC says I've been a resident as of 1/23/2017. I didn't get married until 1/28/2017, so what's going on? It expires on 1/23/2019. Here's the problem - it's been only a year but my USC husband and I are considering a divorce. I'm just worried about my status if I take this route so I'm already considering ROC. My state is weird in that I require 12 mos separation unless we both agree to divorce (and he's probably not going to agree) so I'm worried about our timeline.

Became a citizen 6/2024. Now filing for my mother.

I’m sorry you’re having problems in your marriage.  The first year is known to be the hardest, with all the adjustments needing to be made, but adding in the immigration factor makes it even tougher.

I’m also confused about the date on your card.  Did they mean to put 2018 and they put 2017 instead?  I wonder if you need to get a new card issued with the correct date.

Really sorry to hear about the troubles in your marriage, I hope everything works out for the best for you.

I agree that this sounds like a mistake and they meant to put January 2018 on your green card.  I would try to get it fixed now, because it will cause more issues for you later if you try to apply for ROC or citizenship and they find the mistake themselves and find out you didn't report it.

Nothing yet for us in Dallas :( Just sitting on the same interview is ready.  It looks like from processing time, they are about a year behind, 11 months or so so maybe in April?... just curious how far in advance you get the scheduled date.

Same thing here. The Seattle office is currently processing I-485s from November 2016, at least that's what it says on the website, although it's been stuck on the same date for the past few weeks... It does seem like most people get their interview notices about a month in advance, so we're probably just gonna have to accept the fact it's gonna be a long wait.

However, I am still having problems with my EAD. It took over 6 months for mine to arrive. Got it back in November 2017. Online status never updated, still stuck on "Case Was Received". Haven't really applied for a job yet, but am about to, so I decided to use the self-check E-Verify system that employers use to confirm you are eligible to work. I wasn't in the records, although I have updated my Social Security Card with my EAD. Called USCIS to inquire about the online status - obviously they didn't even know I had my EAD in hand, said that it was up to the office that processed my application to update their records. Haven't tried to speak to a Tier 2 officer yet, just wanted to see if any of you guys have had similar issues and just a heads-up that as long as I have my card I should be good to go despite not being in the system yet. Thanks!

Have you tried using your Alien number?

Im so glad to read about everyone who was approved, it's such a long, nervous process.

My interview finally was scheduled, Im nervous.

Congratulations! So was mine, just received the email this morning. Not exactly feeling nervous because, well, I don't really have anything to hide, HOWEVER:

I've been going through threads of people talking about their AOS interview experience, all the documents they brought with them and I'm just worried, because I don't really have most of those things and I'm not gonna have them in the next month before the interview for sure.

The thing is, we had a courthouse wedding, with only my husband's parents as witnesses. Rings we exchanged were from his mom, she gave them to us right before the wedding because we didn't have any. After that we went to the nearest pizza place and called it a night :D We don't have that many photos together, because we don't really do a whole lot as we're still living on just his income (it took six months for me to get my EAD and I'm still preparing resumes and cover letters to start actively applying for jobs). No medical, dental or car insurance either - again, we're living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, so we've just tried to keep all of our expenses to a minimum. Our landlord came to meet me one day, wrote my name by hand right above my husband's on just his copy of the lease and he was in a hurry so he was gone before we even realized we're gonna need this for immigration purposes at least, but we'll try and get in touch with him. We do have a joint checking account with cards that we barely ever use because it was for my savings when I first got to the US, which are pretty much all gone now.
My point is, we're pretty bad with stuff like that and barely making ends meet as it is. We were not prepared for a marriage, just wanted to be together and that was the only way to go, really (of course I'm not going to say this at the interview ;) ). We're hoping maybe the person interviewing us would recognize all the difficulties we've had so far and be more understanding of our situation. Any experience you guys have had so far or advice would be greatly appreciated!

And a couple questions about the documents - do I need to have a certified copy of my birth certificate with me? Would a photocopy do if I brought the original with me at the interview? Also, if it's been over a year since my medical before the k-1 visa interview, does it automatically mean I have to undergo another one? If so, how expensive is it to get one in the US? I've tried looking at threads with more info on this, but please feel free to post any links to whatever it is that I might have missed... Thank you!
