This. Honestly, I wish there was a way for someone to be held accountable for the nightmare (I don't even think this is an exaggeration anymore) we have to go through. Waiting and worrying for your AOS application is inevitable, sure, but the EAD?! Seriously? I'm simply curious to find out what kind of a system will choose for applicants who have filed MONTHS after some of us to be able to look for jobs as we speak, while the rest of us are sitting here wondering what more we could possibly do just to have somebody tell us not doing anything is actually better. I didn't really start worrying about it or did anything until after 4 months had passsed because I noticed it was all moving way too slow. So far contacting our Congresswoman's office doesn't really seem to help, as it's just another person calling them on your behalf, which apparently doesn't bother them in any way at all. At this point I feel like a simple explanation for the delay would suffice and then I would wait at peace for as long as it takes, but every time I call, somebody just files a SR on my behalf, and before I know it conversation is over and I don't even get to request to speak with a Tier 2 officer. I know a lot of us are going through the same thing and there isn't really much that could be done about it, but it's just so unfair and in all honesty - it's an extreme financial drain on our household's only income, even though we get a little bit of help from our parents. A slightly different scenario would make survival nearly impossible for us. Call it what you will, nothing could encourage me to work illegally more than the process of obtaining an EAD.

I just looked at your VJ timeline, i can't believe they approved your advance parole and not the work authorisation. I am the primary applicant and i didn't start to worry until everyone that filed under my application got a response/approval but me. I called and all they had to say was that everyone's application is treated differently. At this point i don't even mind them not sending my EAD (i hope they do), but my interview is the most important now, considering i've had to wait almost 7 months for my EAD.

I know we'll get there eventually. Goodluck to you and keep us posted.

My first EAD application was sent back with a rejection notice, due to the expired I-765 form I used (form's expiration date was the exact same one as the most current form, which I checked numerous times before sending it in, but failed to notice the date of issue was different, since I didn't really expect a new issue of the form before its expiration date lol) and they didn't take note of my filing for AOS, so "incorrect filing fee" was also pointed out as a reason for rejection. Had to re-submit with a copy of my I-485 NOA, and by June 7th I already had a NOA + went in for a 2nd Biometrics Appt (apparently it's a necessary procedure when having your AP and EAD processed sepparately, although I have no idea why). Figured everything would go smoothly from there. If only I knew I was in for a ride... I've been stuck on Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview since June 21st, so I'm trying not to keep my hopes up for an interview date either. :/ I know we'll get there, I just wish it weren't so unnecessarily complicated. Thank you for sharing your experience - made me feel at least a little bit better knowing that I'm not the only one. Good luck to you as well!

I had my interview on Nov. 9th. Already recieved Green Card. Filed in May 11th, got RFE for a birth certificate lost in june and we hurried to send another one, figerprints also in june, EA and AP card in the mail september 17th, and on Sept 27th, we recieved notification for our interview appointment for Nov. 9th. We went to San Diego, the interview was a piece of cake (at least for me because we had tons of photos and intineraries of trips we made together since we were dating) and I g ot my Green Card in the mail last week.

Still on Fingerprint Fee Received. Getting antsy waiting for a date now but haven’t put in a SR yet. Will wait til after Christmas and then I will start to badger them.. It is frustrating having to wait at every step like this. I can’t wait until I can finally apply for citizenship and be done with it.

No updates on my I-485 since May 9th, fingerprint received.  Based on the processing time information for my field office (Phoenix), I doubt I will hear anything before February.

I did receive my EAD in early September and have been working for the past 2 1/2 months which really helps the time go by faster.

Five months to get the EAD?? Did you have to contact your congressperson or ombudsman?

Yes!  After three useless service requests and probably 7-10 calls to USCIS we involved our congresswoman.  It moved a lot quicker after that.

We were worried the timeline would be similarly slow for the interview notice but thankfully not!

6.5 months here for EAD :(. RD May 1st, approved November 21st, NSC, still haven't received it.

We also involved our congressman and all (around day 140)....don't think it helped.

Our I-485 was transfered to NBC on Nov 8th.

6.5 months?! What the hell....that's so ridiculous. If they're gonna take that long for EAD, they should just schedule the interview super fast for you guys and approve your GC.

That's exactly how we felt! We received his EAD less than a month before we got the interview notice, which was scheduled a month in advance.  So basically only a two month difference.

He found a job within a month but doesn't start until a few days before his interview anyway.  All in all, it just seems silly that EAD takes so long when the net benefit of getting slightly earlier work authorization is almost negligible.
