Guys, I have an issue and I don’t know what to think about it.

I came from my country with two certified copies of my birth certificate, one to send with the paperwork for aos and one for me and to take to the interview. When we sent our paperwork we got an rfe requesting us to send an original birth certificate. It said they had the translation but not the original one, so we assumed the one we sent was lost and responded the rfe with the “extra” one I had to avoid delays.

So my plan was to recieve AP, go to Mexico City on thanksgiving to see my family and get another copy of my BC there, but we got my combo card just last September and when we were starting to plan the trip we were scheduled for interview for Nov. 9th. so we had to wait. That meant having to go to the consulate of Mexico in San Diego to get a copy of my bc. I didn’t want to issue the copy there, but we had to. And just as I feared, my bc had a weird mistake that I don’t know it it can be an issue.

All the information, names, dates, numbers, etc were correct, but where it states my place of birth, my “real”

bc says “Miguel Hidalgo, Distrito Federal” and the copy from the consulate says “Xochimilco, Distrito Federal”. The person who issued the copy at the consulate said that the mistake might have been made when they were digitalizing the information for the system of consulates, that Ihave to fo to Mexico and call a number to notify there is a mistake, but he told me not to worry, because the mistake is not important, what they care is the name of the city and that is correct. It is just that one specific name of the region inside the city where I was born where the mistake is. He told me that it is not the first mistake he sees, that there are bigger issues (like mistakes on names) and that it won’t be an issue for my interview. I checked my passport and oficial documents and everywhere, where it says place of birth, it only says “Distrito Federal” so they really might not check the neighborhood and won’t care the specific place inside the city where I was born. ¿What do you guys think? I have checked in this forum and apparently there really  are people with bigger mistakes on their BC’s and they haven’t had an issue in the interview.

PS. Im sorry for all of you who have still not heard anything about your cases. Timing is definitely something weird for this process. I hope things work out for all of you who are still waiting for a notification.

I wouldn't think that will be an issue since the certificate still shows Mexico City as the place of birth, the other fields are correct, and the information matches your passport.

Fingerprint fee received since May 3, did biometrics June 1 (NOA1 says may 9, but we filed May 2 and EAD/AP NOA 1 was May 3).

received EAD/AP about two months ago, AOS says it's at NBC in Missouri - we are in NYC, New York

I wonder if some field offices are just way more backed up than others? Like I'd think NYC would be fairly busy. We are in Raleigh, NC which might make sense as to why they got to our interview earlier than many... just a speculation. Thinking of all of you!

Looking at similar timelines for folks in NYC, it appears most of us are in the same boat.

Also, with the case being at NBC for this long, and adjusting from K1, I think we may be part of the group that gets interview waivers and go straight to green card.  Our EAD/AP went smoothly it just took almost four months.  No RFE or anything.

Will keep you all posted and let you know if my assessment is correct.  I'm guessing we'll probably get a green card before or just after end of year, possibly even within this month.  Seems like others in our situation have taken about 6-9 months, but I've seen it take longer

Our I-765 and I-131 petitions been approved (per email notification) since September 2. The case status online is not updated, shows Case Received May 10, and the I-485 shows Case Ready to be Scheduled for Interview since June 11. Just got off the phone with a tier-2 supervisor filling a 3rd SR requesting why card has not been produced and shipped out. The previous 2 SR never got assigned, the wait continues. Anyone else experiencing the same or similar issue?
