We had our interview today in Detroit. Just wanted to share our experience.

 

We arrived about 25 minutes early. After we went through security and reception, we were told to sit in the waiting room where my name would be called.

 

The appointment was at 13:10. We were called at about 12:55. I'm assuming we were in the system as "arrived" or something since we were called early. We literally walked in, took an oath to tell the truth, verified our names, address and birthday and left. Our application had apparently already been approved. The woman explained that they used to be able to waive the interviews, which we knew, but now they are required to see everyone face to face. Even if there is no real reason. We were back on the road at 13:07.

 

She told us that my green card would arrive in 2 weeks and to please keep our address updated in the system for when we have to file the i-751.

 

Simple as that! 

 

 

Another Grand Rapids couple! Yay! We were also approved less than a week ago. The Detroit Field Office is working hard!  Congratulations on your approval!!!! I'm glad it went so well for you!

Probably had the worst interview experience. The officer was super mean and rude. She didn't believe in our marriage from the start because we got married after 9 months of dating. She gave us a RFE for the support because my wife income is lower than the min even tho I submitted the documents back in May, and RFE because she think our marriage is not bonafide even tho we had rent agreement, couple of bills, joint saving account, and dozens of pictures.

She gave us until last day of Oct to send everything. It is really depressing. 

I'm sorry! Don't get discouraged, did the officer give you a list of things to submit? Our officer was the happiest when we gave her life and health insurance documents, car title with both our names, car insurance. She didn't bother much with pictures. I think legal stuff outweighs all other proof for them.

Glad to find another GR couple ourselves! Congrats on your approval. The process was a breeze compared to everything else we've been through.

Yes, the problem is she is the director! She was so tough. We have rent agreement, utility bills, renter insurance, dozens of pictures, proof of contact (phone bills), joint savings, and joint credit card. The only thing we couldn't bring is the health and life insurance because I recently got them. We

Just got the text that our 765 has been approved and his card is in production!!!! 

 

So happy this part of the process is finally over.  138 days from priority date.

 

Hoping he gets his card soon!!!

Yeah, it really took forever.  I think our congresswoman bugging them is finally what did it, because her office said they were expecting to get a response this week or next week. 

 

That must have put a fire under their ###.  If we hadn't reached out to her may we would be waiting even longer.

My husband received his green card in the mail today eight days after approval! We're done with USCIS for 1 year and 9 months.

Woohoo! Congrats! What a long and difficult wait.. I got my card 6 days after approval  let's hope it is the same for you!

I am truly happy for everyone with good news on this forum but kinda wondering when my good news is coming☹️

my husband is the USC & he filled for me & 2kids (his step children). We filled i485, i765 & i131 for me & i485 & i131only for the kids.

 

the kids i131(advance parole) was received the 1st week of September but no news on my i765&i131.

 

my field office is NBC/MSC, is anyone experiencing the same thing? My lack of income is starting to put a big strain on my marriage as my husband didn't think it was going to be this hard and expensive to take care of me and the kids; I hate being a liability but it seems USCIS do whatever they want to do and will get back to me when they are good and ready.

 

btw; I have initialled 2 SR already and both amounted to nothing.

Have you tried contacting your local congressman/congresswoman regarding your case? They may be able to help. They have staff members called constituent liaisons who help out people living in their area. We contacted ours for help with expediting my husband's EAD due to severe financial loss and we got it within a couple weeks. They may be able to do something for you with speeding up your case.

Did your status ever change online? I know you guys had your interview in Detroit, too. We had ours on the 27th and nothing has happened with the case status despite us being told we were approved and should revive the card soon.

It changed to "New Card Being Produced" the same day but we asked the officer before leaving if the online status would change at all and he said that it doesn't always change online for awhile/if at all. He said that it's possible that we might get the paper notification of the result before it changed online. You'll probably get the paper notification any day now because we received the "Welcome to the United States" letter four days after approval.
