In Vietnam, what kind documentation do you have to proof that you have money? I know you have bank to deposit money but do you have documentation of how much  you make a year or tax payment? From what I understand there is no such thing as least for the poor. So how can one proof they have money for a tourist trip?

The person(s) wanting to visit USA does not prove that they have money for the trip. They are proving that they have substantial ties to Vietnam. Why? Because if you a good reason to return to Vietnam (job, money, land, family, etc.), then maybe you will actually return to Vietnam. A lot of Vietnamese come to America on tourist visa and then refuse to go back to Vietnam. This is why tourist visas are hard to get. I know quite a few Vietnamese that are in USA illegally after overstaying tourist visa - it is very common. We have nail salons in my city that are full of illegal Vietnamese workers, most of them overstays on tourist and student visas. If you are poor and Vietnamese, a tourist visa is probably not going to happen - especially if you have relatives in USA. We are experiencing these issues now. It's sad that the visa overstay problem is causing a lot of good people to be denied tourist visas.

Nguoi Viet oi!!!!  Not everything is about money.

You list the information about your income, employer, etc. on your visa application.   The US Consulate will make its decision based primarily on the requested information in the application.  If there isn't a place for something, then you can bring it to the interview.

The US does not care how much money you have.  The US only cares about your reason to go back to Vietnam after visiting.  Money can be moved very easily from VN to the US.  Having a good job and living in VN is important.  Having family and social ties to VN is important.  Your money is not important.

There is no place to submit any proof of income or assets.   What you can do is bring that proof with you to the interview and tell the adjudicating officer that you have it if they would like to see it. Having the house book and any other documentation of strong ties to VN may be useful.   Don't go in there and shove papers through the window.  Just let them know you have it.
