HI,

I have a question about Health Insurance for me and my little daughter.

We live in CT, moved to States by K-1 & K-2 visas.

Recently we've received our Green Cards.

My question is:

Is it possible/allowed to for us to get any state/government Health Insurance (Husky,Chip etc)

P.s. What if I get pregnant?

Thanks.

No Government assisted insurance or programs. It's the reason your sponsor had to fill out the affidavit of support. Your spouse can add you to his health insurance. Or you can buy private insurance. Or you pay out of pocket.

Same if you get pregnant.

You may sign up for Obamacare using the state or federal exchanges, buy insurance privately, or have your USC spouse add you to their own plan. If you are here in this country and have finally received your green cards I would assume you have been here for quite a while. I hope you and your spouse are aware that you could have signed up for insurance fairly soon after marriage and that the penalty will likely apply since you have waited this long. You will also likely be out of the special qualifying period exception for registering outside of open enrollment.

Medicare and Medicaid are off limits to you.

Applying for Medicaid (HUSKY Health) Most individuals who fall into one of the above categories will also need to meet a five-year residency requirement. You are excluded from this requirement if you are a child or are pregnant.

Thanks,

All this time I have had Health Insurance from my homeland.

Its mainly for emergency, but I can keep it one more year.

Do I still have to have Obamacare or to pay penalty?

May I join to my husbands (USC) Husky or  I can get Husky only  if I pregnant (and when the Husky ends, after the birth day?)

Assuming the mandate remains in place, it sounds like you would meet the requirements to have coverage given your timeline. Your foreign coverage very likely would not apply.
