So, you know how I posted yesterday that I get really excited and run to check the mail every morning? Welll......yesterday actually got me something! But not exactly what I thought it would be. We got a letter from the embassy, but I think it's just a nice 'just to remind you' letter and nothing else. I thought I'd share to see what other people thought. I do not think that Dave and I need to take any action...but what are your opinions.

Keep in mind that Dave is an Australian citizen living in London. So, for the police certificates we had to get a UK one and an Australian one. Here is the letter:

Dear David.....,

( ) Please complete the part(s) of the form indicated by a check mark

( ) Please complete question 20 by giving the complete addresses at which you have lived from : _________________-

( ) Please complete question 25 giving details of the dates on which you entered and departed the US.

( X ) Each visa applicant aged 16 years and over is required to submit a police certificate from the police authorities of the country of the applicants nationality or current residence where the applicant has lived for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. These certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has lived for at least one year. This means that we require a certification from the appropriate authorities to indicate that there are no arrests recorded against you. the enclosed information sheet provides instructions to assist you in obtaining the relevant police certificate. PLEASE IGNORE INSTRUCTION IF YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE POLICE CERTIFICATE FOR AUSTRALIA.

Sincerely, Cheif, Immigran Visa Branch

Sooo?? What do you think? I think that the point about the police certificate is the only point that they checked with an X and therefore that is the only point of the letter we need to be paying attention to. AND, at the bottom of the information about the police certificate it has a note (in a different font as if they added it on at the last minute) that we can ignore instruction if we have already obtained the certificate -which we have. The second page of the letter is just an information sheet on how to obtain the certificate from Australia.

So my question is, do we need to do anything for them to continue processing our case? Or, were they just giving us a little heads up to remind us we needed that? My theory is that since Dave would require more than one police check (unlike most people) that they must have had a lot of problems in the past with people not understanding that so they just wanted to remind us we needed to do that. Nice of them and all but I wish they had put a little note on the bottom saying that we didn't need to do anything for them to continue processing the case.

Anyway, what does every one think?

We sent in our Packet 3 the day after JamelNTam. This letter is dated April 12th (the same day they supposedly got their Packet 4 mailed to them. So, I also think that the dates do match up. They received our Packet 3, sent us this helpful reminder, and hopefully we should be getting our Packet 4 anyday now...

Oh well!! Hopefully everyone agrees with me....but let me know if you don't and I can call them....

Thanks!

Yeah I think it's funny that three of us got our interview dates within 2 days of each other and we all have very different dates! One on May 4, one on May 17, and one on May 29th!

Just curious: did JamalNTam put a definite travel date?? We put a wedding date as July 7 and a travel date as June 15th (BUT, we didn't have any evidence that we want to leave by that time..that's just the time we need to be heading back to the states for our July 7th wedding).

Yay for all of us!

It contains your appointment letter which you have to bring with you to the Embassy. It also contains a brief run down on stuff you need to bring with you (same as what was listed in P3).

Yeah, so it sounds like the dates you included did cause your interview to be sooner than ours! Oh well, Dave and I didn't care (we already live together in the UK) as long as we make our july 7th wedding.

Like Mags said, Packet 4 just has your interview letter and the stuff you need to bring as well as information about fees. 13.50 pounds for the express delivery of your visa and $100.00 for the interview -not payable by check!
