Hi!

On April 19th the USCIS received my RFE and I'm hoping within the coming weeks they will be scheduling an interview. My wife and I are moving on June 1st to Cambridge MA from Burlington VT. Should I change my address with the USCIS before or after the move and what time scale do they require? I'm also wondering, will we have to come back to Vermont to complete the interview or will it be moved to MA?

Ive heard many horror stories with address change so how should I go about it?

Thank you so much for your help.

Penalties for Failure to Comply

A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of moving to the new address is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, you (or the parent or legal guardian of an alien under 14 years of age who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA Section 266(b)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of your stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize your ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.

So as long as I tell them the day I move I'll be fine?

I presume you didnt actually bother to click the link. Try taking a couple of mins and checking it out, it seems rather comprehensive.

I have looked at this link before. I guess my problem is that people online have said they've had problems while changing address as the USCIS have made mistakes and not sent the information to them. Also I confused myself in regards to interpreting the timeline, as I first understood "within ten days of moving" as I needed to do it ten days before, now I believe I understand it as after.
