Ripped envelope K1

Hi!

I vent to pick up my K1 pack yesterday and when I was at the depot I opened up the plastic bag that they send the envelope and the passport in. The passport was fine but the envelope was ripped at the bottom, what do I do? The hole is not big enough to get any documents out or in but you can see inside it still.

The depotstaff was just behaving like and said I have to contact the embassy. It has been stressful enough with this visa and this is the last thing I wanted to deal with. It isn't the embassy's fault, I can see that the rip comes from the courier not being careful with it.

I emailed the embassy yesterday morning but I still haven't heard anything, anyone know how long it takes? It's the embassy in London.

As long as you cannot remove any documents, it should be fine; some countries even tear one of the corners of the envelope as standard.

The rip is way to big unfortunately. I just get so frustrated as I've been in the visa process for a long time and all I wanted was to focus on my move to USA.

I just spoke to someone else from where you book your interview and they said it shouldn't be ripped and I just have to wait to hear back from the embassy..... My question is just how long do I have to wait :(

Hmmm... I wondered that.  My medical was sent to me from the panel

physician via fed ex and then it was delivered the Fed Ex envelope was intact but the medical envelope was not.  It had a corner cut and, to me, looked intentional.

I had to leave for my interview the next day and was panicked.  I just drove back down to his Toronto office and asked that they put it in another envelope.  They did and I was fine, but still, I feel like that cut was not accidental.

Give them the standard 3 business day reply and then fwd your first email to them again.  And repeat.

Hopefully you don't have to wait too long, but I remember the Embassy auto generated email quoted a 3 day, though I never got a reply, however they did update my status to issued 3 days after I sent the email (which was 8 days after my interview, and the case status still showed ready and hadn't been touched since the interview)

Cryssiekins, did you have to take the medical to the embassy yourself? Mine was sent straight from the doctor to the embassy.

My K1 was issued 8 days after my interview (and we had bank holidays during this time as well). I got an email this morning saying that my visa had been collected yesterday but that's about it....

this is whole thing is just so unnecessary and not needed. The courier know it's a visa inside, how can they be so careless.

Sorry for being a girl but I phoned my fiancé and cried because I was so stressed (it was like 3,30am over there :P)

Yes, I was required to bring the medical myself.

Totally understandable - I also vented a lot of my frustration and stress to my husband during the process.  He was always so relaxed about things and I was wound so tightly.

Are you close to the Embassy?  I'm not sure if it would be effective or not but maybe if you go there and explain to the security guard, they may let you in to get it resealed? (Totally unsure if that's allowed or not, but if it's relatively close, you could take the chance)

Otherwise, keep trying through email, and perhaps call USCIS and speak to a tier 2 and explain the situation and see if they can provide some insight.

I feel your pain and know how frustrating it is when you can't get a response.
