Hi VJers,

Has anyone ever done an Electronic Criminal Record Check and have submitted it to NVC?

Saw that it's available here, so thought i asked if anyone has done this and submitted without any issues.

https://www.commissionaires.ca/en/national/service/individual/electronic-criminal-record-checks

Tried searching on VJ for any previous posts about this but no results.

What would you advise?

My Canadian fiance  just went to her local RMCP office in Surrey BC, and they were able to give her 2 offical copies of her police certificates the same day.  We kept one copy for our records, and recently gave the other at her K1 interview in Montreal.  We had no issues and her K1 Visa was approved.

Why not go to your local RMCP and do the same?

I'm just seeking for ways to obtain the record ASAP.

Unfortunately, I live in Vancouver, and we do not have an RCMP office, just the Vancouver Police Department.

According to friends, their local RCMP offices were able to provide the certificate within 10-15 mins. As for Vancouver, it may take up to 2+ weeks.

Was curious as I came across the electronic criminal record check yesterday, and wanted to know if anyone has used the service and whether or not NVC will accept it.

Calgary has a similar electronic one for the PIC, however the NVC will not accept it, and Calgary Police knew this too, which is why they did a full request for me. Can you drive out of town to the nearest RCMP office?

I just spoke with my fiance, and she said that as long as you don't have a criminal record - you can get your police certificate from the RCMP the same day.

She went to the RCMP in Coquitlam here:

I've called 2 RCMP locations, and unfortunately my only option is to go to VPD (Vancouver Police Department) to obtain this as i do not live in there 'district'.
