Hello guys,

I decided to move to the US to stay with my Father after finishing high school, the process took some time but i finally reach the country in June 2016. This was one month exactly before my 18th birthday and i was told i was eligible for automatic citizenship. Im now 18, still residing in the country and is interesting in getting a passport or certificate of citizenship. My Father is a US citizen and have been for some years now.

My question is, with my current situation, can i apply for either ? and if i can, how do i go about it ?

Thank you in advance for the help

Hello!

Please read the information on the following link:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal-considerations/us-citizenship-laws-policies/child-citizenship-act.html

If you got to the US on an immigrant visa (IR2), you should be able to apply for a passport.

Good luck! :)
