Hello!

My wife is supposed to receive her naturalization certificate at her ceremony in a week. She is supposed to travel to Europe for work before she would be able to get herself a US passport. She still will have her Mexican passport as a dual citizen. Is she allowed exit/entry using her naturalization certificate and Mexican passport in the meantime? I assume so since her permanent resident card is used now and the certificate replaces it. Does anyone know about this?

She has two options: 1) Take the oath and immediately apply for a US passport at your local passport agency (try to make an appointment asap to a date on or after her oath ceremony), or 2) contact uscis and ask them re-schedule her oath to a date after she comes back. I'd go with the 1st option if there is time and appointment availability. Extra service fee is only $60. She needs to exit and enter with a US passport.
