Hi all,

well, got 2 questions to clarify my mind about EAD and SSN.

1- I get approved for EAD last week, and get an email saying they were ordering production of my card. But yesterday get another email saying they sent me notice of approval. So will i get a card later on?? or i can use the notice of approval to apply for work??

2- I still don't have SSN, cause i applied in december for it, and after they checked my I94 they told me I can't have SSN because my visa was going to expire (in feb 7th). So i figured out i would wait until i have EAD to apply again for my SSN.

Can I apply only with the notice of approval of my EAD or i'll have to wait to receive the card??

I'm a bit confuse with all that...

The EAD cards usually come pretty quickly-I got mine about 4 days after the 'card production ordered' email. The card comes with a type of letter which apparently is the approval letter as well. I too was confused about that and was told here that the card and letter come together. So you will have your card soon which you can then take to SS office. It might take you about 4-6 weeks to get your SS card because they have to verify your status with DHS and then it takes about 1-2 weeks to get your card.

Thanks, i think it's very confusing with USCIS, they don't say much in their emails...

When i'll get my card i'll go apply for SSN again. just worry cause now yes, my visa is expired, but i got married before, and applied for AOS also....

Anyway, we'll see what happen.

That's right .. when they say that an approval letter has been mailed, it actually means the card is on its way. Congratulations on your EAD! :)

08/17/08: Mailed N400 to TSC

08/19/08: USPS attempted delivery

08/20/08: TSC received N400

08/21/08: TSC cashed check

09/02/08: Received NOA...........Priority date: 08/20/08

..............................................Notice date : 08/22/08

09/02/08: Received Biometrics Notification

09/18/08: Biometrics completed - Charlotte DO

10/24/08: Received Interview Letter

12/08/08: Interview @ 1:00pm. APPROVED!

01/05/09: Oath Ceremony 10:00AM. Now officially a USC!!!
