It should move quickly from now on. The timeline estimate is fair. You may be landing before the year is out.

Back to DACA, I can promise you that anyone on DACA would love to trade places with you. It doesnt make your situation any better, but DACA fails to provide the beneficiaries with any of the privileges and right you'll have once you're in the US.

Of course I will be in a much better position than any DACA recipient, but I feel with any program like this they should have left the normal immigration centers alone and used new offices. Apparently it's self funding so why place it directly in the hands of USCIS when they were already playing catch up. Setting it up as a stand alone entity or even a separate branch within USCIS would have been better.

There is an inroad in the system, and your visa category (IR1) is the fastest lane there is. As a IR1 there is no wait for your visa to be issued once your process is completed. The DACA applications put a burden on the system, although you can't measure it. But equally, your application moved someone in a lesser category one position further back, because some visa categories depend on yearly quotas. The USCIS has been understaffed for quite a while, but timeliness is not the only parameter deciding how long your visa will take.

Ok sure lets do that, but do you want your uscis fees to cost more?  It's completely self funded the government doesn't contribute.

USCIS are already processing DACA applications and the fees for other visa types went up last year. So if DACA is self funded by application fees why would it increase prices more? Surely it's using USCIS staff that were already employed before DACA was created.

fees increase over time. back when we were preparing to go through the k1 - the fees increased right before we began. such is life.

but it is always fun to blame bad things and minor inconveniences on illegal immigrants, specially those made illegal by no fault of their own..

That is possible, but there's no way to check if/when impact was experienced. USCIS caters for a variety of immigration-related issues.

Uscis is self funded, that's what I'm saying.  Your petition is no different than their DACA status to them.

I think that what people in immigration need to realize sometimes is that there's always a bigger fish and envy somewhere.  AOS from tourist visas must have an interview and gripe about that, k1's gripe about having to wait longer for greencards, cr1's the separation period etc

This is my main problem with DACA, these cases were loaded on to the USCIS with instructions to process them quicker. It over loaded the offices and backlogged a lot of applications.

The above is validation of the Backlog claim.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yes, from 2013.  People here from that timeframe still acutely remember the awful delays, which took a surprisingly long time to start to resolve.

CSC has been breezing by for years since that backlog was cleared and there's no sign yet of too much slowdown. Then of course there was the backlog at TSC, after that period, who couldn't seemingly manage to cope with the volume of cases while strangely, CSC still could after the 2013 backlogged was corrected. Thanks to asking the former President directly and he kindly obliging, TSC kicked the bucket for I-129F, that backlog was cleared and CSC continues to manage still pretty well as the sole handler for K1 cases. So while the analysis in 2013 seems pretty sound, and may have led to some evidence that DACA back then may have slowed things down, what changed exactly now?

Dunno, except that USCIS adjudicators are apparently told to concentrate on processing certain petitions ahead of others, on a rotating basis; see Gary's old pinned threads on that subject.  There was a large influx of N-400s in the months before the election, for example.
