Hello, how long does it take to get an interview in either Cairo or Malaysia after the case is completed in the NVC.

and does the petitioner have to be present in the interview.

Thank You!

As mentioned, the beneficiary needs to be legally resident to interview, so you have no choice in where to interview;.

The reason why the original author of this thread is asking is because his/her spouse lives in Yemen and there is a war currently in Yemen.  Moe313, you can pick the consulate where you want your case to be sent (which I am sure you know), and you also know you must pick a consulate where your spouse can travel to.  You have Egypt, Jordan, Malaysia and other countries to pick from.

From speaking to government clerks who assist USCIS customers with their petitions, Djibouti is the best consulate to send your case to because they move cases the fastest.  My case is still with the USCIS.  They sent me a letter for REF which I am trying to provide them with.  It's no fun.

A friend of mine got the interview 2 months after his case was completed at the NVC.  I meant to say they interviewed 2 months after the NVC approved his case.  Good luck (my spouse is in Yemen, so I understand what you are going through :)

This is no longer true now.  I have been waiting for over 6 months and I know another individual who has been waiting since early Jan for his interview to be scheduled at the Kuala Lumpur US Embassy
