My fiancé just got a job driving city buses and now will make enough to apply for me. How far in the application process is the affidavit needed? Is this needed in the beginning?

What financial documents are needed at the interview?

Financial documents include but not limited to: tax information for the last three years (tax transcripts from IRS are best), employment letter, pay stubs and bank statements. See instructions here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

So I need this for my interview in Haiti or will my fiancé interview in USA also? I thought I read somewhere that the USA citizen may or may not interview.

This is needed from the sponsor (petitioner) for the beneficiary to present at the embassy interview. The USC almost never has an interview in the K-1 process (but being present, if permitted, at the embassy interview is helpful).

 

After entry into the US and AOS is filed, you may or may not have an interview. If so, both the petitioner and beneficiary are required to be there (barring unusual circumstances like incarceration of the petitioner).

@geowrian is right. Also the beneficiary needs an I-34 form with wet signature, meaning your fiance needs to mail it to you. Other documents can be copies.

What do you mean by wet signature?

It means an original signature, not a photocopy or printed version of the form.
