So I sent in our applications and I received them back today for filing with an outdated I-485 form. I filed it with the one that expires on 10/31/2017 assuming that it is still valid. I checked the website today and I was wrong, pretty stupid mistake. Now, I am not sure what to do with the checks and the rest of the forms and documentation. Do I write them new checks since these are stamped on the front or are they still valid? Can I just fill out the newest version of I-485 and send everything else the way it is now stamped and signed by them? Do I need to send them all the rejection letters back that they attached to I-130 and I-485? Thank you!

Fill in a new form, and send the entire package back to them.  Your checks are still good.  You might put a cover letter on the package that says you are re-submitting your package due to an outdated I-485 form, and that you are attached the updated form with your package.  I do not believe you need to send them the rejection letters since you are sending a cover letter that explains the issue.

Good luck!

I got caught out with this a couple of years ago - and I know how awful it can make you feel...

Thank you for the quick response. I think I am going to send them the rejection letters and a cover letter too just in case. I will make copies for us. They changed the order of my documentation quite a bit as well. I think I am just going to leave it this way, even though it confuses me. I will assume this is how they want it to be. :)

Dealing with this right before the finals week is kind of stressful, but hopefully it will work out this time :D
