I highly doubt that he will be leaving the USA after you have a baby, leaving you and his child here alone for around 1 year. So he will stay there, which doesn't work for a tourist visa. Unless you really care about your legal process for his future visa so he will leave in the time period he will state on the interview.

OP, you state that you are 7,5 months pregnant. Is there any reasons why you and your significant other haven't looked into the (non)immigrant K-1 visa from the day you found out that you are pregnant? In that case, he could have been with you and the baby from the day it is born. I assume you want him with you and raise it together. Unless you plan to move to Mexico, of course.

I can think of lots of reasons. So all a guessing game.
