I-864 - Counting the number of family members

Need help with numbers. We are confused as to how we count the family members in determining how much our co-sponsor should be earning. Do we count all of us in the family or just the immigrant/principal applicant?

This is our family:

Wife - the intending immigrant

Husband- US citizen, been living in the Philippines for 6 years, unemployed, doesn't meet the minimum financial reqmt.

1st son (2 years old) - US citizen via CRBA (born in the Philippines)

2nd son ( 1 month old) - US citizen via CRBA (born in the Philippines)

Are we counted as 4, meaning the co-sponsor should be earning at least 35K annually;

OR

as there is only one intending immigrant in the family, the co-sponsor should be supporting just 1?

Looking forward to your answers. Cheers!

hi

you  will submit the i864 as the primary sponsor and count your whole family, regardless of how much you make or don't make. the sponsor must ALWAYS file an i864 for beneficiary.

if you need a joint sponsor, the joint sponsor will count his or her own family on their i864 as joint sponsor, plus the beneficiary which would be your wife

I got confused too, my house is just me and my husband. Howerver, i am thinking about using my tax only to sponsor both my parents. How would they caculate? I:1, mom:1= 2 or me,dad,mom=3 ( you have to file two different package for parents) thank u

hi

your husband needs to be included, he is part of your household

I'm not sure if it would be 3 on each i864 or household size of 4 if you count both your parents on each i864

but at least 3, you, husband, mom, you, husband and dad

I hope someone who has filed for both parents will chime in

On the introduction, it said that you can just use your tax to file, but I am not sure about including the spouse or not. Someone told me that you can include one parent each i864

either way since the petitions are linked

you still have to make enough to cover 4 people, you, husband and both parents

Yeah 4 are a lot. I am little worries now since they have so much confusing.

Hope someone have been this situation can help me.
