I-551 stamp

I'm not sure where to post this. My husband got his NoA1 indicating his green card is extended for one year but he needs to travel and the green card itself expires in June. He's worried when he travels, customs in the foreign country won't accept the noa1 indicating the green card is extended.

We looked this up and apparently he can get the I-551 stamp. What do we need to bring to an infopass appointment for this? Does it cost money?

Make an infopass appointment and get the i-551 stamped on his passport. It does not cost a thing. The NOA 1 letter should be enough, but getting the stamp on his passport won't hurt.

He needs to bring previous GC, NOA1 letter, etc.
