Please help!

I just received notice today that my interview is scheduled for April 27. The issue is I sent my passport to Passport Canada to have my name changed to my married name, and I don't expect it till one month after my interview date. Is my passport absolutely necessary or are photocopies ok? How will this affect my case?

"Every adult must bring Government-issued photo identification, such as driver's license or ID card in order to enter the building and to verify his/her identity at the time of the interview."

You must bring:

I have a driver's license and copies of passport, K-1 visa, and I-94.

She can get in the building with a drivers license or ID card, they're government issued too. I would go to the interview and tell them your dilemma, they might tell you to bring it back to them like within a certain time period. I had some stuff missing for my citizenship interview and they told me to get it to them within 30 days.

I forgot to bring my passport to my AOS interview :D Turned out to be okay - the officer understood, and was quite satisfied with the photocopies of it. However, a passport is required at the AOS interview - the officer will definitely ask for it. If you explain your situation, chances are you'll be okay. Copies may suffice. Worst case scenario - the IO will ask you to show up at his/her office at a later date and present your valid passport.

You do not need to use your passport to enter the USCIS building though. It's always better to use a DL or a state ID for this purpose.

I have seen here on VJ several cases where if you do not have the evidence with you, they will give you six weeks to obtain it. That being said and provided you do not have a crabby AO, i would like to think you will be fine.

I would still try an contact the Canadian authorities and try to expedite the return of your passport.

If you can not get the passport and the AO will not budge, ask if you can get there contact info and present it directly to them with out having to jump through hoops
