No good exit control* (Yes I have heard of it)

Not that it matters in this circumstance as OP was asking about who to notify on the way out. An automated system that works in the background to provide information to officers doesn't do anything for the OP's case.

APIS IS exit control. To say there is no exit control in the US is false. APIS is not an automated system.

What is the op's case? He/she visits for 6 months, leaves and wants to return asap. When he/she departs the exit will be recorded by CBP. Upon attempted entry the information that was gathered "in the background" will be available to the CBP officer who is doing the interview, that officer will more than likely question this person on their previous visit. That is how the system is meant to work.

I think this is just being pedantic...

OP's case was asking about if he would be questioned about why he visited for 6 months on his way out of the country. Sure, on the way back in they would probably be questioned because they know about the previous exit.

I think giving false information, like "the US has no exit control" is misleading and puts the person asking at a disadvantage.

Actually op didn't mention anything about when the questioning would take place, he simply asked if he would be questioned. And seeing the op wants to return to the US in the near future, the fact that he/she will be questioned about previous visits upon re-entry does come into play.

What is generally implied as exit control is going through immigration when departing the country. The system currently in use in the US doesn't do this. While I understand that exit control is more comprehensive than that,  I really feel this is unnecessary nitpicking on the terminology used in a way that is not relevant to the OP's situation. Maybe you think it's misleading, but I just feel that it's like sending the entire field manual to somebody who asks "Is overstay forgiven?". For all intents and purposes, the simplified answer is suitable. I went on to describe the potential re-entry situation after staying for 6 months, so the OP was not lacking the relevant information.

Good day, sir.
