Wonder Woman Warner Bros final"Wonder Woman."Warner Bros.

We’re on the cusp of the summer-movie season, and it's going to come fast.

Last year, the big complaint about summer movies was that too many sequels and reboots turned out to be duds. And though you will surely get some of that this summer, on paper at least, this batch seems promising.

You have highly anticipated sequels like “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Alien: Covenant” (the sequel to “Prometheus”), and “Despicable Me 3,” and on the reboot side, you have Tom Cruise resurrecting “The Mummy,” The Rock flexing his muscles in “Baywatch,” and Tom Holland as Spidey in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

And let’s not forget “Wonder Woman,” Christopher Nolan’s war movie “Dunkirk,” and Luc Besson’s gorgeous-looking sci-fi epic “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

doesn't seem promising to me. 'it comes at night' should be good. if my kid was still a kid i'd be pumped for 'captain underpants'. sleeper hit of the summer will have to be the emoji movie or whatever schumer/goldie hawn is in. lol

i don't think i've watched an episode of baywatch in my life. the rock should be preparing to run for president in 2020. not making crappy movies with zac efron, that's seth rogen's new thing.

We date night to the movies a few times a month, and I can't say any of those are tempting us except for GOTG2 and Dark Tower. Bad Batch is like a cross between Mad Max meets cannibal hippie commune love story, but probably something to pick up on DVD later. The Atomic Blonde trailer was disappointingly bad.

I haven't seen the trailer for Atomic blonde, but if it is bad you're right it would be disappointing because just going off this site it seems like it might be interesting. I have to agree though I don't see much there that would interest me or my wife except save a few, but even those I can't be sure about till I read more about them than the info on that site and watch some trailers which I don't have the time for right now. I would narrow it down just for starters to: it comes at night, the big sick, the bad batch, The House, a ghost story and atomic blonde...nothing else to even take a second look at.

You know how popular John Wick is? Some of the stunts are crazy and the gun skills are sick.. a lot of what makes those two movies good is because of how skilled Keanu is. He's so good everyone needs to slow down to catch up with him. Now imagine if they decided hey let's take this graphic novel and make Charlize into a female John Wick. Except the trailer wasn't very slick at all. The fight scenes in the red band version were filled with stunt doubles and clunky fights that look like she's counting out the steps in her head. 1, 2, 3 punch to the left... 1, 2 , 3 step to the right. Even Salt was better. And I like Charlize and wish we could have more awesome female leads in action films that are every bit as action-y as their male counterparts without looking a little dumbed down. I'm a little spoiled by Asian films with really tough action actresses.

Very rarely is there anything me or the wife want to see at the movies and when we go, we're usually disappointed. And $30+ for two tickets doesn't help ease the pain any.

I wish someone would explain to me why he is popular, those movies are so far fetched they should come with a sci-fi label. I've seen both John Wick movies and left scratching my head both times. The first one was somewhat passable, but the second one was so bad I wanted my money back.

Well I dunno at age 52, he can do the majority of all his own stunts, engage in combat at an expert level, be a crackshot with a gun, and make most of it all look effortless it's good enough for me. There's a lot of terrible action films out there, and most of the time it's barely subpar, but I'm happy to watch someone actually seem to enjoy what they are doing on screen. Not that the story in JW makes any sense, any more than a lot of silly films. When we went to the theater for JW2, it was quite a crowd - from young ones to grannies. Which was hilarious to see a bunch of grannies really into such a film like that.

The best movie we've seen this year was Logan. Not a dry eye in the building and people were applauding.

I guess my problem with a lot of these movies nowadays is that I expect them to be at least a little bit based on reality, JW movies are nowhere close to that.

Yeah we often find ourselves disappointed, although we usually watch at home. I think out of the last 10 movies we watched maybe we weren't disappointed with 2 of them?

Same here. I'm good with some sci-fi, like a time machine as long as it's part of a much bigger story, or even some extra terrestrials if the storyline is really good. But not much more than that, and I can't stand zombies, unless they're in resident evil(the game not movie) and I'm blowing their heads off.

I know Gal Gadot worked hard for the part, but I just can't see her as Wonder Woman.

I'll give it a try, though.

I do loved the first Guardians of the Galaxy so I do want to see the second one,

and you had me at ''Shirtless Jason Momoa'' I don't even care what the movie is about.
