Hi everyone!

I would like to ask the following:

1) If i am travelling from Moscow to Boston but my POE is JFK, will i need to get my baggage in New York and then register it to Boston?

2) Will my husband be allowed with me for all immigration procedures? We will be travelling together.

Thank you!

Yes, your husband will be allowed of course. Is your trip Moscow-Boston in one itinerary with layover in JFK?

Regardless of what visa or visa waiver you're travelling on, you always have to clear customs and re-check your baggage at the first POE into the United States. This includes a flight to Boston with a connection in JFK! There is a clear process that's established to do this; usually a second bag drop for connecting flights after baggage claim.

If it is one itinerary, at the check in desk they will ask you where you want to check in your luggage. They can check it all the way through until the final destination. At the point of entry you will have your interview and it is usually very short as for any visa because there is a line. as long as I remember you will need to fill out something on the plane. Everyone who is not a LPR or citizen will. Depending on the airport, you will fill something out at the electronic machine and print it out, then will follow to a window where the officer will take your fingerprints and a pic of you.

The process may vary a little bit depending on an airport as I already said. I was also interviewed a little bit before boarding to my POE. I had two layovers. In Amsterdam and in the states. I was  called out from the crowed next to the gates in Amsterdam before the plane started getting ready to board and the officer asked me several questions. Then on arrival to the state I went through the passport control, the officer in the states didn't ask me any questions, I showed my papers, she took a pic of me and fingerprints, and I ran to catch my another already domestic flight. Make sure your layover is big enough to catch another leg flight. After finishing at the POE I was runing because there was very little time left.

Do you know if I will have to pay again for checking extra bags? Or do  I only pay once in Moscow?

I think it is free of charge one check in  big luggage and one carry on luggage per person. If you have more than that, you can contact your airlines and pay in advance. It is usually more expensive to pay at the airport

If it's one itinerary, the cost of checking the bag(s) all the way to Logan will be covered. However, you MUST claim and re-check your bags..they will not be routed through to your final destination without you doing that.

Hmm For someone reason I remember I checked my luggage all the way through. It was 2010 though. Maybe I just forgot because I have flown so many times.

It may have well been the case back then, I suppose the law has changed. I've taken 10 trips to the U.S since 2012 and every single time, I've had to claim and re-check my baggage on connecting flights. It's a real pain in the butt!!

Yeah I can imagine! You are right, maybe the law changed.
