Generally salary/hourly wage and all is good to have on it. If he can supply W2's for the years covering the employment from the company that should help. Also pay stubs are always good to show current incoming income if you haven't already added them.

Yeah I read about the general idea of it on ***removed*** i believe it was. But his hall told him they only have a 'generic template'. I'm going to get him to call them and see if they can make an exception.

I can however get his W2 for the past few years. He's been there 20+ years, how many should I have to be safe?

General rule I would say should be three years worth if available. Same as with the AOS portion letter on they ask for three years of tax transcripts.

I supplied three W2's, 6 pay stubs, and luckily my company(been here 6 years) is fairly small so I can ask HR to make something and they have it within a day or less so they can put specifics like hourly wages and such.

There are two areas for sponsors which require proof:

1. Tax returns.. IRS transcripts preferred or returns with w2 and 1099 attached

2. Proof of ongoing stable income with income level above the 125% household threshold. This is where you need letter of employment and proof of ongoing income... suggest using 6 recent payslips for this as well as the employment letter.

I can get the W2's and unsure what 1099's are but I'm sure I can get them some how.

He has copies of past paychecks from his current employer. He's an electrician for the union but he's currently contracted to another company who's paying him.  I'm not sure how long he's been with this company for, but perhaps a letter from the Union and one from the company he's currently working for will suffice?

I can get the 3 years of W2's, 6 paystubs and a letter of employment from his current boss. He's an electrician for the union, so the letter they gave him is lacking his salary and hourly, however it does state he's been employed there since 1994. Do you think a letter of employment from the Union and one from the boss he's contracted out to will do better?

1099 are the forms used to report non wages etc... so if there is any income from bank account interest, investments, self employed, these are reported using the 1099 and attached to the 1040 just like the W2. Retirees for example might have no W2 earned income, but report all their income on the 1099 from their invest, ents etc..

Ok since I'm fairly certain he makes no money outside of his day job, it's safe to assume I can leave the 1099 out?

If I get a letter from who he's currently employed from it will only say he's been there since about august. That's why I'm thinking if I couple it with the one from the union, which states he's been with them since 1994, that will be good enough. I dont mean to be repetitive but we're nearing the final part of the wait and I just want to be sure I'm on top of everything!

If you get the IRS tax transcripts they will come with all the attached documentation so you dont have to worry about that... but if you are using copies of the tax returns, then you must make sure all documentation is attached.... ,looking in the body of the return will show you if 1099 have been reported or not... if they have been reported, and you dont submit them, a definite RFE will come your way!

Are the W2's I have from when I did my taxes sufficient? Or do I need to get full IRS tax transcripts? I just looked online and it says it can take 75 days to process that request. Which is worrying because my Fiance's medical is in a week and the interview I'm sure will be scheduled shortly after that.

IRS transcripts are preferable, otherwise you must have:

Copy of the tax return, w2 and any other supporting documents that were submited with the tax return.  for the past 3 years.

It is better to get the IRS transcript as it is the official IRS documents. Tax returns and w2 can be made on any computer by anyone and say anything.... tbe transcript represents what you filed with the IRS and is the  best way to avoid RFE.

Your father can apply for his transcripts online, and they come immediately, or by post and they'll take 2 weeks or so.

I was getting really excited for this to be coming to an end. Now it seems like I was ill prepared and misinformed as to what I needed. Worried things aren't looking so good anymore.

Get copies of the tax returns and w2 etc and runmwith that.. try to go online to the IRS website and order the transcripts so you have them just in case.. Follow the instructions  on the intervies letter very carefully.

I've requested them to send me an activation code in the mail because they wont accept my phone number, probably because my dad is the account owner. I'll try to have my dad get his however.

My only other concern is that I just switched to this job from my last, which is was at for a year, making 15~ an hour. Before that I was working for minimum wage here and there. My current job however is 20 an hour and full time. I'm hoping my dad co signing will negate the fact that my employment history looks so spotty.

Your job history and pay itself is irrelevant once you get a co sponsor. You will still be the primary sponsor but the financials will be covered my the co sponsor. You can pay a visit to your local IRS office and get them with proper ID if you keep having issues.
