Bill O’Reilly Is Forced Out at Fox News

Although many will be be jumping up and down with glee at his firing you can't help but think this hounding out is a little unfair.

Just because he is in the limelight doesn't mean he should be the sole focus of such a campaign criticising his behaviour.

There are countless other women/men in the workplace who are subjected to similar or worse actions. The outcry should be that such practices are prevalent in ordinary people's lives on a daily basis.

This wont get stamped out because of one high profile individual (who's clearly in many people's eyes was there to be shot at).

He never put himself up to be the bastion of human decency, his views and previous indiscretions give you the insight into his character.

Its clear society has a long way to go in cutting out workplace abuses.

No doubt there's strong elements of political assassination, but O'Reilly did himself no favors whatsoever. And my sympathies are with his FOX coworkers who shouldn't have to endure that sort of thing.

he inserted himself in the convo;

Quote

“I think he’s a person I know well — he is a good person,” Trump told the Times during an interview at the White House. He added: “I don’t think Bill did anything wrong.”

I don't disagree, but why didn't a reporter from the NYT head up to former President Clinton's office and ask him the same question?

The answer to that is pretty obvious...

One person is the current President. The other person was President 16 years ago and is a little less relevant now.

Not excusing him or condoning the behaviour, jumping on the band wagon because it's the "in subject of the moment" also does little to focus on the issues at hand. More headlines go towards who he is and his celebrity status.

I swear I love my MDl posters. It however amazes me that something Trump said many years ago, off the record is clear proof he and everyone in the white house are guilty of rape

However

If we mention that a sexual predator who lost his law licence and settled sexual harassment law suits, resided in the oval office for 8 years and was protected by the person they supported for President... well we are out in loony right field.

Jokes aside I have slightly mixed feelings. I don't know him personally, but I would not be surprised if the allegations are true and he is guilty of sexual harassment.

That being said, he settled the cases. That shouldn't mean he is considered guilty. He is being treated as if he was guilty.

I also agreed that him being fired (and the Fox President or whoever that old guy was) isn't really going to change the culture in business and stop this from happening. Maybe it will make other high profile network anchors think twice, but all of the much more common and much more subversive episodes of sexual harassment in the workplace will continue.

Personally, I always thought he was quite full of himself. I disagreed with him on many things but at the same time I also agreed with him on many other things and his show could be quite entertaining at times(and alot more "fair" to both sides than many other shows on many networks). I think between Glenn Beck, Megyn Kelly, Greta and now him Fox has lost many of the people from many of the shows that made people tune in. I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop in the ratings. That said, maybe now he can go join Beck and The Blaze or something...
