Good morning all. I have a question for those in the know regarding Thailand.

My fiancé has a passport issued with her last name matching when she was previously married. She is a widow.

She has since changed her last name back to her maiden name so all of our K1 paperwork is done with her maiden name.

Our paperwork is at the embassy and she needs her passport to match the current  lastname. Does anyone know how long it takes for the Thai passport people to do a name change on a Thai citizens passport.

From what my fiancee told me, it is common to change names in Thailand. That said i imagine the easiest way would be to renew her passport, I think would be an easy, quick thing. If she would like to talk with my fiance I can give you her e-mail, maybe they both can use some support!! I just recieved RFE notice yesterday, waiting to see what that is all about? Let me know,     Neal

You should've worried about that long time ago not when your paperwork is at the embassy. I don't have no clue how long it takes but I would go and renew passport with the maiden name as soon as possible.

Ya thanks for the news flash. Kinda like telling someone to close the barn door after the horse got out. Since you don't have any insight on my question I'll go on to the next reply

Oh you are very welcome to pass my post anytime you want. I'm very astonished at how you let this problem go from the beginning and now that you are so close to an interview, you are all of the sudden running like a choked chicken trying to find answers. I guess you can't fix stupid even when you try. Although I advised you to apply for a new passport asap, you chose not to read that part of my post. I wish you good luck in your fiance and green card process.

Not running like a choked chicken as you so eloquently stated. And in Thailand that is not an option. This is why I asked for folks familiar with Thailand and not Tunisia.  Yes it was overlooked my bad, lots of moving pieces in this process and can be difficult to cover down on every eventuality. I'm glad you're so well versed in the immigration process. And it's no big deal. Three day turn around to get the corrected passport.

Youre very condescending which is a shame. This site has been a wealth of help and many people lend a hand and this is the first time I've had a troll flame me when I was just asking a question so you win the prize sunshine.

i will take your well wishes as a sincere offering and wish you well also. Tunisia is a difficult locale from what I understand
