hello,

I am applying for GC on the basis of my USC spouse. I am currently on OPT - student visa.

I got married about a month ago.

It will be great if somebody can help me with the list of documents required for applying for GC.

Any help will be appreciated.

If your husband is a born USC, you have to include proof of his citizenship with package I-130;this can be a copy of his passport (all pages) or a copy of his birth certificate (front and back). Proof of naturalization is N/A in this case.

Hey, I'm in Hayward, CA. I'm currently on OPT as well. I'm planning on submitting all the paperwork shortly after our wedding at the end of this month. I already have most of the paperwork together so let me know if you have any questions.

I believe that ur OPT started sometime recently, when does it expire.

What are some things to keep in mind for application. Is your would be spouse a USC or PR.

My OPT won't expire for a few more months...however, submitting my AOS application will invalidate my F1 visa and my current student status will change to pending immigrant status...some people still use their OPT EAD after applying for AOS, others don't and stop working until they receive their new EAD or greencard (you can apply for EAD at the same time you apply for AOS; once you get your greencard you don't need a work permit anymore).

Basically you have to submit form I-130 (petition for alien relative), form I-485 (adjustment of status application), form G-325a (biographic information) and form I-864 (affidavit of support) along with all the requested supporting documents. If you want to travel while your AOS application is being processed you should apply for Advanced Parole (form I-131); if you want to work before you receive your greencard you should submit form I-765.

As you can see from my timeline, you will need a medical exam done by a civil surgeon. In order to find a civil surgeon in your area, use the civil surgeon locator on the USCIS website: https://egov.immigration.gov/crisgwi/go?act...office_type=CIV

To answer your other question, my soon to be husband is a USC.

Two more things about the medical exam, "shop" around for a civil surgeon and compare prices...prices vary greatly from about $75 to $200+

Also, try to obtain your vaccination record from your doctor in your home country if you don't have it here with you. You will need to show proof of a number of vaccinations when you apply for AOS.

For people between the ages of 19 and 64 following vaccines are required:

Td

MMR

Varicella

If you don't have written proof of your vaccinations, the civil surgeon will do a titer test.
