Arequipa is a nice place, i have been there before but Lima is a nice place too. My love will come for the interview, we are planning to go to Cuzco too, he wants to see Macchu Picchu. I hope you can go there.

Its an awesome idea to create a place for peruvian couples, if you do that, please let me know. I cant see anymore the page with the peruvian couples :(

I see your interview date is coming up pretty soon! It must feel wonderful to get that scheduled. I'm hoping the packet 3 arrives when I am on my trip to Peru.

Lima.....you know, I haven't spent a whole lot of time there except for the airport which is really nice by the way. My experience in Lima was not so good.....I made a big mistake of wandering outside of the airport at about 1 am after I missed my flight to Miami. I was soooo angry at the attendant for American. Big mistake though but it only cost me $60 instead of my life.

American was no help at all. I did not want to fly with them again, but unfortunatly there are not many options flying out of Chicago at a reasonable price. I'm flying with them again, but I hope it goes much better.

Arequipa was very nice, but wow their airport is small! I expected something a little bigger because of the number of people that live there. I guess that city is called "the white city". I told Lucia that the city got much whiter when I arrived hahahaha. She's very worried about my skin when we go to the beach. She said the sun is very dangerous there due to a hole in the ozone and that my skin is so light that it could be "destroyed". Nothing a little SPF 45 shouldn't cure though hahahaha.

Here's to Peru! My wife is Peruvian and I am from NH. Right now we are actually getting everything ready for our AOS interview tomorrow! Yikes, I hope we have it all...

Yeah your right, Lima can be dangerous, more near the airport, Thank God i live in a nice area in Lima and its not dangerous at all and i use to pick my fiance up from the airport, i know how the taxi drivers are with foreigners ;) American Airlines is a mess, i have heard a lot of stories about that airline. My fiance always flies with Lan, they have a better service and with non stops but of course its more expensive

Hi Amilkovits, i would like to know too about how your wife has been adjusting to her new life there, my fiance is really worried about that, i know you can get depressed because your far away from your family and country :( I feel sad too, i have a sister there in California and hopefully she lives near my fiances but im sure i will miss my family anyway :crying:

Hey Mark, how have you been? How is Rossy doing? How has the move been?

Wedding date is fast approaching for you! Very exciting!

Myself, I have been doing very well. I'm picking up the engagement ring tonight after work. I'm so excited to get it on Lu's finger. We are going to the beach the first weekend I am there, so I was thinking a nice, formal proposal on the beach under the moonlight......should be nice. I knew I was in the right place to buy the ring when the jeweler just said she had been to Peru a month ago. When I stop to pick it up tonight, she is going to have some Pisco ready for me.

Oh yeah - for New Years, I flew out to Virginia to meet the parents and her sister BY MYSELF. The language barrier was a little difficult, but fortunately her sister's boyfriend is fluent in both. I must admit it was pretty strange but in the end I did get their permission.....whew. New Years night was a blast too. I was dancing in the living room with soon to be mother in law almost all night. They were quite surprised that a gringo could dance hahahahaha. I was told I have the swing.

I'll be sure to have a few piscos for yah.....I have to pass on the ceviche though....unless it is fried, then I can handle it.

OLY AND DIDIER

My wife had an adjustment. But she is happy here. The only thing though she has a problem about is that she does not speak english--and she is very social--so being unable to talk to people is really frustrating to her. I am not always around to translate or at times I just cannot translate fast enough or properly. She also does not drive and would like the bus and taxi system they have in Lima. But unfortunately the USA ain't like that. But to get over the depressed feelings. She talks with her family daily by email-chat-telephone and we drove an hour one-way to a store that sells Peruvian food. So she was able to make Chicha and get tons of other stuff to make our meals taste more like how her mother use to make.

But you will have times when you are sad and stuff--but just remember to be patient and keep the faith and trust each other. And no matter what is said or done in times of sadness or frustration try and stay together even in the worst of times--never giveup and utter the D word! Just stay strong and eventually you will be more accustomed to the life here and have a much stronger relationship--its a hardship, but friendship and love can keep your relationship afloat.

I just found this thread. Other then the airport area, I love lima. Oly, you are from San Isidro no? I think that is what Kathe told me. I love San Isidro and Miraflores.

The airport does suck tho, not a lot of direction and it seemed very madning to me to traverse. Maybe it was just because I was not used to it. I flew continental out of detroit and that is regular route I will be taking.

I can't wait to get moved to cleveland and get started on the paperwork once I have a real address. :)

Edit: Oh, and be VERY careful at the beach. Multiple layers that kept being added to all day of SP30 and I was roasted like a pig on a spit. The sun is brutal. But the 4 to 6 foot breakers I was body surfing in all day long made it worthwhile ;)

I'm looking into satellite radio options for Lu since it is difficult to get reception on any decent Spanish radio station where I live. Does anyone have any experience with XM or Sirius as far as Latin music?
