(just saw another post asking a similar question (but for Canada); didn't want to piggyback off theirs since it was specific, but i have a similar question)

i sent both the originals of the I-864 (mine + my financial sponsor) to the NVC previously, so i do not have the original anymore!

how am i supposed to bring it to the interview, then??  (there was not an option to send electronically for us).

any help would be appreciated!

I received my interview letter yesterday and says the same thing. It also states (unless already submitted) so if you've submitted it then they should have the original in the file they have for your interview. If you made copies of the original package then take that as evidence you've submitted already. That's what we plan to do.

hmm...here's what mine says (nothing about my I-864 though):

"you already submitted certain forms and documents to NVC.  at your visa interview, you must give the consular officer the original version of each civil document you submitted plus one photocopy for each person applying for a visa.  these original versions will be returned to you.

. the only form you do not need to bring to your interview is the form DS-260 application yada yada yada...

. if a financial sponsor submitted an I-864 affidavit of support form, you must give the consular officer a signed version.  it can be a photocopy, but the signature cannot be typed or electronic."

so does that mean that the I-864 can be a photocopy of the original (which is already signed)??  or does it have to be a photocopy + a fresh signature (which would be weird, since i and my joint sponsor would be signing over our already-there signature??

So by 'signature cannot be typed or electronic' that simply means it can't be done via the computer. Adobe and other programs offer an electronic signature. A photocopy will be absolutely fine, no need to go over the signature in fresh ink. They have the originals so they'd just want a match I'm assuming. I think we have different interviews coming up but I guess the basis is the same with documents

I had my interview last December in London and received the same instructions. I went into panic mode because I had forgotten to make a copy of the I-864 before sending it to the NVC. But I wasn't even asked for it at the interview - they had the original in an envelope sent from the NVC to the embassy.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
