Direct incitement is what took place the UC Berkeley. The neo-nazis were not there looking for a civilized round table panel to discuss the moral, physical, and intellectual inferiority of the Jewish people. They were there looking for trouble.

However, I do not believe they were a majority of the Trump supporters there, and I wasn't talking about this particular event - I was replying to the notion by some that the mere views of some people are such a danger that their freedom of expression should be curtailed which I vehemently disagree with.

i'm not saying cops should arrive and beat down nazis for being nazis. i'm saying it's awesome when a righteous soul pops one in the chin. violence begets violence, etc. etc. 

it's so pc to say you don't, at minimum, grin on the inside when a nazi or ws, gets hit. not shot - not killed. just punched.

That's cool, you can grin. Look, I'm not even just talking about the US. In Germany like nothing nazi is allowed. While I appreciate the gesture and them trying to make sure what happened there 80 years ago doesn't happen again, I think they are taking it too far. Their fear is understandable and appreciated, but if people don't actually get to see and learn things, they also won't be able to know what it's fully about and oppose it completely. They'll just be told - this is bad - which will only make them even more curious or want to be part of it even more. Kind of like the war on drugs.

and i have never once advocated taking away anyone's right to free speech. war on drugs has bred rampant misinformation and secrecy. a failure in denying free speech. and reason. but we're talking about nazis..

I'd suggest the Berkeley police do their jobs, but I assume instead they'll just arrest Ann Coulter for the threats of violence by the left.

 There was similar protest at Auburn. The police showed up and kept the peace. One fight broke out,the police broke it up and took both of them away.

My thoughts exactly.  I have no desire to shut down the NYT, WaPo, HuffPo, MSNBC, etc., etc., etc.,.  We need to see and witness what they say and print for our own eyes so we can judge them for ourselves.

While ideally I wish this would happen, my problem is there will always be a group of people (of variable size) that WON'T oppose something completely no matter how horrible it is.

 

Human behavior is highly variable, and there are a decent number of sick f***s out there. I believe there are certain things that as a society together we need to decide just aren't worth even showing around because are f***ed up and we know some people out there may do them. We don't show all adults pedophilia footage so they can see what it is "fully about" and decide to oppose it.

 

The concept of a "supreme race" that subjugates and oppresses all other races and religion is wrong. If we can stamp that out completely I'd be perfectly happy. I wouldn't need it to continue to exist just so people can "decide for themselves".
