Hello everyone! My daughter is in college and she's trying to apply for financial aid. There's a question in her application asking when did she become a legal resident. We arrived here in Washington September 2016 thru K-visa. We already have the EAD/AP combo but we don't have our green card yet and still waiting for the schedule of our interview. Helpful answers will be much appreciated. Thanks!

strictly speaking she is not a legal resident. both of you still have pending applications to become permanent residents. I believe she would be considered by the school to be an international student and would only have available those grants and loans until the i485 is approved.

good luck

So she won't be qualified yet for the financial aid. Thanks guys for the quick response. We will just wait for our green card and continue her application for financial aid. Have a good day! :)
