Hello Everyone,

I have been calling my fiancee' in Thailand for about 7 months now. Is started off by using my long-distance carrier and then switched to and used various internet phone cards. I have to say that I have finally found one that is fantastic! I have had no disconnects and the calls are crystal clear. My rates to Thailand are 4.4 cents a minute with no other charges. I don't know what other rates for other countries are, but this is one of the best I have found and I have looked at a lot. There are some out there that I have used, that were a little cheaper, but I had many disconnects and un-clear calls.

Here is the website: http://www.idphonecard.com/ I have absolutely no affilitation with this company. I just found it on a long internet search. It is such a professional and great calling card company with good rates, that I thought I would let everyone know about it.

Regards,

No. It's not expensive. Just find the right service. Search Google for PC-to-Phone Services. You'll be surprised at how much you'll save. Residents of Vietnam can also call you with an international virtual numbers. This means that they don't have to pay international long distance rates. I haven't search if there's one company available for Vietnam that can do it. You just need to search.

I get charged about 10 cents a minute to talk to my fiancee on her cell phone. They charge more for me to call my fiancee on her cell phone because she gets free incoming calls. It's cheaper if I call on a land line but that doesn't give us any privacy. Also, phone lines are relatively new in the villages, so my thoughts are it would get alot cheaper as years go by.

I remember when my parents used to call VN a fews years ago. They were being charged like .75 cents a minute!! and that was considered cheap!

Be thankful we are only paying a fraction of that price now, otherwise, I'd have to get a second job just to call my fiancee.

I know all about calling america from 'Nam, I've lived there for many years as an expat. I'm just curious why calling China or Thailand is 4.5 cents a minute and Vietnam is 10-15 cents a minute, they're so close in a geometric sense.

Uniontelecard.com is cheaper than IDPhonecards to Thailand. I use Union Telecard every day for about 2 hrs a day.... no complaints...

I have no affiliation but I get a free phone card for a referral...

YMMV

Same thing with Cambodia. The lack of infrastructure and expensive TDM related devices is the cause for high calling rates.

Calling from Cambodia costs about 1 to 2 dollars for one hour to the United States. But, when calling from the United States to Cambodia, it costs around 8 dollars/hour. I wonder what service they're using.
